torn between "Looking Up" and "The Only Exception" and "Misguided Ghosts"

Classic. Being so different it should be appreciated more, not less. Talked about before, but the conflicting emotions are the real deal on this one. She's fighting all sorts of demons and the struggle in her relationships, w friends/religion/music turns this album into a fascinating, slightly out of her control beast lyrics-wise. machine gun precision backing from the band adding to the always on edge tension.

The hooks and choruses are so big. People didn't like Ignorance as a single but I loved it. What a great title, "Ignorance". Playing God - "Next time you point a finger, I might have to bend it back and break it, break it off" . Looking Up, "God knows the world doesn't need another band, nut what a waste it would've been" - hopeful, confident, but unsure of what's coming next. (And famous last words before shit hit the fan)

Turning Off as a rock chorus is so well constructed, the narrative building up, brick by amazing brick, to a soaring climax that never stops moving me - nnd in the freefall I will realize, I'm better off when I hit the bottom.

The sheer righteous, rollicking force of Feeling Sorry- "I fee-al / no sympathy"

"All I Wanted" as the heavy, slightly ominous, obsessive closer.

"The Only Exception" is a bit of a dud, but otherwise this is so so tight. I get all emotional talking about this album. I don't know what I'm going to vote for.

Love the massive production on this. I usually cant' stand that generically "big" modern rock sound, but here all that force really works for me.

For me it's between "Ignorance" (feel like emo-pop's propulsive thrust is pretty much perfected here) and "Misguided Ghosts", with "All I Wanted" third. Shout out to the underrated "Where The Lines Overlap".

"Playing God", the best song on a dreary album. They really painted themselves into a corner with this one.

Such a great album. Pretty much love all the tracks, but I'm just going for the big single Brick by Boring Brick.

voted playing god, which just beat misguided ghosts. i think this is still my favorite paramore album.

Feeling Sorry isn't getting enought love here and I'm feeling bad for not voting for it. That one's a tour de force.

haha i have a creeping fear that i didn't vote at all but if i did i voted for playing god, boringly. it's just that chorus (bend it back or break it, break it off) was the first thing that popped into my head when i saw the album cover, and her inflection there has a way of crowding things out.

i guess the line early in ignorance is "it's a circle / a mean cycle" which whatever but i invariably hear the much better "it's a circle / i mean cycle"

I didn't vote for it but that line is probably my favourite single moment on the album, I was really disappointed when they didn't play it live when I saw them a few months back.

Oh man. I always figured that was written to play live.

Anyone else want her to sing "I feel no sympathy/you live inside a tree" on Feeling Sorry? I always think she's gonna go there.

It's a raging jam. Got to say though that physically separating Hayley, Jeremy, and Taylor from the touring band onstage is a really weird look.

Oh yeah? I don't go to a ton of big concerts these days. Still, it seems like they're all pushed way to the front. Reminds me of going to some skinny little strand of local beach, the kind where you only have room for one row of towels.

i think this record is also when hayley williams really came into her own as a lyricist. "all i wanted" is incredible, a million miles away from riot

Oh yeah, all the messy confusion of a fight between friends, you're feeling hopeful, frustrated, pissed off - ♫at the same time♫. Trying to be the bigger person, but bile comes out with every compliment. And 'what a waste it would've been' to split up, but in real life, two months after they filmed the Playing God Music, actually doing that.
