my friend from Buffalo just left a message on my answering machine, he sounded very drunk about this move

Stan-ton Macoute (brownie), Sunday, 8 March 2009 15:39 (eleven years ago) link

horseshoe it's cool to love t.o. now, i fully endorse the embracing of former hated enemies and have ever since the bulls picked up rodman in '96

and how (omar little), Sunday, 8 March 2009 16:13 (eleven years ago) link

thank you omar i believe you are right.

horseshoe, Sunday, 8 March 2009 16:37 (eleven years ago) link

yes this news mostly makes me wish the season were now

johnny crunch, Sunday, 8 March 2009 17:01 (eleven years ago) link

i think he won't be a distraction, not on a one year contract

boner state university (cankles), Sunday, 8 March 2009 18:07 (eleven years ago) link

OH BUFFALO. LOLZ. From one former TO sufferer to a future one: GOOD LUCK.

it's clear to me now that t.o. has always been a misunderstood angel.

horseshoe, Sunday, 8 March 2009 21:20 (eleven years ago) link

"north america's team" is brilliant imo

wow heaven is cool (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 8 March 2009 21:21 (eleven years ago) link

the more i think about it the more i love this move, mostly because of t.o.'s track record in his first year w/ a team

wow heaven is cool (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 8 March 2009 21:22 (eleven years ago) link

I still don't like it. Buffalo's fragile enough as it is. :(

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 8 March 2009 21:23 (eleven years ago) link

buffalo needs difference makers on both sides of the ball... they have a TON of good/solid starters, but not much top shelf talent. T.O. isn't elite anymore, but imo he can only help them at this point

boner state university (cankles), Sunday, 8 March 2009 21:27 (eleven years ago) link

I still hope they make a play for Hakeem Nicks in the draft (not that I've heard anything about them doing it).

may the fucking with Dick Jauron never end

horseshoe, Sunday, 8 March 2009 21:54 (eleven years ago) link

Guess I won't be taking Lee Evans as my standard unprepared sixth-round pick.

•--• --- --- •--• (Pleasant Plains), Monday, 9 March 2009 00:54 (eleven years ago) link

YOU GUYS I AM SO HAPPY

obv, TO will open things up for Lee Evans AND the backs. For the first time since Moulds/Price, the offense won't live or die based on how good a day WR2 is having. And there will be enough footballs to go around, since Evans wasn't seeing the ball much in triple-coverage anyway.

I'm more concerned about what to make of a diminished TO. Will he be all sadface in a rusted-out nowhere town? Will he constantly be jetting off to Cleveland to party with Ocho Cinco? I have no doubt that the city will welcome him with open arms and all the Labbatt's he can drink. Upside is he will be the beloved monarch of Buffalo, and the only thing approximating big-city press for hundreds of miles will be easily-awed Canadians. He may actually get all the adulation he needs with none of the Terrell-baiting that was like the national sport of Philadelphia.

This is going to be great.

And "North America's Team" is hilarious. I already want the t-shirt.

horseshoe, Monday, 9 March 2009 03:12 (eleven years ago) link

sorry to hate, this is just the worst quarterbacking situation t.o. has been a part of by a mile.

He grew in Pussyville. Population: him. (call all destroyer), Monday, 9 March 2009 03:19 (eleven years ago) link

so what's the worst that happens... TO says some mean things about TE to The Toronto Star?

butt-rock miyagi (rogermexico.), Monday, 9 March 2009 05:07 (eleven years ago) link

worst-case scenario is t.o. loses his shit and attacks kevin everett during the latter's inspirational speech before a home game in the second half of the season.

and how (omar little), Monday, 9 March 2009 06:13 (eleven years ago) link

He is going to rip off Kevin Everett's head on the 50 yard line and scream ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED

...and I would be.

so what's the worst that happens... TO says some mean things about TE to The Toronto Star?

― butt-rock miyagi (rogermexico.), Monday, March 9, 2009

no, he says it to espn like he always fucking does and makes it a national news story and drama, the way he always fucking does. you guys seriously think that the national media isn't going to follow him there and needle him in buffalo? or that somehow the dallas morning star was the one making t.o.'s batshitness a matter of national security? it's not that hard to get there guys, and it also contradicts y'alls earlier "omg he will bring national press attention to this small market team" so tits or gtfo basically.

sorry to be the spoilsport but i feel sorry for u guize. otm re: this is the shittiest qb situation he's gotten himself into yet -- it will end, probably, in buffalo being burnt to the ground fyi

lady burt stanton (the schef (adam schefter ha ha)), Monday, 9 March 2009 14:02 (eleven years ago) link

granted, good points all around with the "buffalo is already bad so who cares" tip, he can't do toooooooooooo much more damage as to what they've already done to themselves ;_;

<3 marv levy's response was to ask the person who informed him of this move if they were drunk

there should be 2 contract clauses--1) t.o. cannot be w/in 500 ft of any media 2) has to see a shrink on the regular

it will end, probably, in buffalo being burnt to the ground fyi

Q: why is Toronto Terrell Owenns favorite football city?
A: because it's TO at both ends and a ron up the middle!

you guys seriously think that the national media isn't going to follow him there and needle him in buffalo?

not if they can avoid it!

The Peter King story almost makes sense out of it all. Glad I read it.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 10 March 2009 01:46 (eleven years ago) link

Yeah, that was a definite slot a tab b explanation.
I think since Dr. Z is gone, King is getting lotsa good info. I always thought he was fluff, but he's had a half dozen good pieces in the past six months.

he is fluff when it comes to analyzing the game and a bunch of other stuff, but as a reporter he is p good

it's sort of heartbreaking. also the move from war memorial to ralph wilson stadium is the same story as everything that happened in buffalo in the 20th century, fucking over the black community-wise.

horseshoe, Tuesday, 13 November 2012 23:21 (seven years ago) link

It seems that the people he randomly interviewed from the black community came from other parts of the country (ie - the guy from north carolina)
I'm ok with high schoolers not rooting for the bills because the last ten years have been rough.
