Selby takes the lead again with a couple of 30 breaks.

It might help he breaks down now and again. Gets Ronnie into these tactical battles. The commentators seem to think otherwise -- how much in the tank will he have -- but he is mentally strong, cuts both ways.

Stephen bluddy Fry.

xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 May 2014 18:50 (nine years ago) link

in frame 23 though he seemed to have lost every single safety exchange but then somehow gets jammy with a snooker and then ronnie fucks up that last pink

^ 諷刺 (ken c), Monday, 5 May 2014 18:56 (nine years ago) link

another exhausting tactical battles in frame 26..

xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 May 2014 19:01 (nine years ago) link

Selby 14-12. By far the biggest test Ronnie has ever faced in all of his finals here.

xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 May 2014 19:11 (nine years ago) link

Selby is just eeking them out. He does break down but his tactical play is so good he gets another chance. Not seen anything like it in a while.

xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 May 2014 19:26 (nine years ago) link

And Ronnie is out of sorts with all of this, not his rhythm - think Selby will grind it out now.

xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 May 2014 19:29 (nine years ago) link

15-12.

xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 May 2014 19:33 (nine years ago) link

I'd prefer having someone win by making spectacular points and high breaks, but we've had that forever, this is just harder to admire.

StanM, Monday, 5 May 2014 19:47 (nine years ago) link

I have a ton of admiration for it, he is doing it with far more flair than Graeme Dott. Really getting Ronnie in all sorts of bother.

You also know Selby is capable of scoring real heavy, but he hasn't been able to so he has a very strong plan B. Almost as good as a plan A.

xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 May 2014 19:50 (nine years ago) link

Ronnie tried bullying him, century in the first frame of the session and Selby just came back at him real hard. Faultless match play and Ronnie looks defeated already.

xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 May 2014 19:52 (nine years ago) link

Quick frame, to Ronnie's tastes: 15 - 13.

xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 May 2014 20:03 (nine years ago) link

what a fkn break: 15 - 14

xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 May 2014 20:27 (nine years ago) link

He made up for that missed pink with a top yellow.

xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 May 2014 20:27 (nine years ago) link

this is gr8 stuff now

imago, Monday, 5 May 2014 20:29 (nine years ago) link

yeah really enjoying this, I think it will go to the wire

Angkor Waht (Neil S), Monday, 5 May 2014 20:31 (nine years ago) link

Great response from Selby: wins it in one visit. 16 - 14.

xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 May 2014 20:36 (nine years ago) link

He's getting stronger: 17 - 14. Incredible!

xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 May 2014 20:52 (nine years ago) link

so much for it going to the wire, Ronnie is looking shot

Angkor Waht (Neil S), Monday, 5 May 2014 20:53 (nine years ago) link

He has since before the break. Just saw that, thought it lost then.

xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 May 2014 20:54 (nine years ago) link

Stunning long red from Ronnie, feels like a last hurrah!

xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 May 2014 20:55 (nine years ago) link

Ronnie is getting down quick - terrific 57 break, some genius in despair.

xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 May 2014 21:05 (nine years ago) link

xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 May 2014 21:15 (nine years ago) link

Green to brown.

xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 May 2014 21:15 (nine years ago) link

Terrific!

xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 May 2014 21:15 (nine years ago) link

Now its blue to pink w/the rest

xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 May 2014 21:16 (nine years ago) link

Settle down now, thank you!

StanM, Monday, 5 May 2014 21:16 (nine years ago) link

wow

Angkor Waht (Neil S), Monday, 5 May 2014 21:17 (nine years ago) link

Awesome clearance.

xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 May 2014 21:17 (nine years ago) link

hendry's record's safe

^ 諷刺 (ken c), Monday, 5 May 2014 21:18 (nine years ago) link

It was going to be safe even after today, didn't think he'd ever get near it (thought he'd win four...)

xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 May 2014 21:21 (nine years ago) link

Anyway, he probably should've won this by now. Only Higgins was more 'granite' to deny him, and that clearance was the best to win the final since I think Higgins himself since Trump, but I might be recalling it wrong..

xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 May 2014 21:25 (nine years ago) link

Looking back, match of the tournament, imho: Robertson v Selby

StanM, Monday, 5 May 2014 21:26 (nine years ago) link

eleven months pass...

Some good tight stuff already: Selby taken to the brink on day one.

Now Ronnie, first frame on a max..

xyzzzz__, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 13:55 (eight years ago) link

That was a tough chance, gets a century instead.

Asked the ref what the money was..;-)

xyzzzz__, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 13:58 (eight years ago) link

The guys in the studio are amazed that Ronnie is playing in his socks.

Eyeball Kicks, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 15:54 (eight years ago) link

"the socket"

StanM, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 16:37 (eight years ago) link

Had forgotten how much I love watching this when I'm in the right mood.

Alan McManus looks like a dude with some dark secrets.

Ron Paul's Drag Race (Mr Andy M), Tuesday, 21 April 2015 16:56 (eight years ago) link

Scottish players in general aren't to be messed with apart from Maguire, his record is appalling.

xyzzzz__, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 19:32 (eight years ago) link

LOL @ Ding forgetting he was on a 147.

xyzzzz__, Tuesday, 21 April 2015 19:33 (eight years ago) link

Stevens has just annihilated Williams 10-2.

Can't wait for the match w/Ronnie.

xyzzzz__, Wednesday, 22 April 2015 14:35 (eight years ago) link

saw some of mcgill earlier, serious serious player

carrington too but maybe a little less so

carles the jekyll (imago), Friday, 24 April 2015 20:32 (eight years ago) link

Ding started badly in both of his first two matches. as turned one around and now another, except this is against Higgins. One away.

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 25 April 2015 10:43 (eight years ago) link

Higgins just holding on here

Keith Moom (Neil S), Saturday, 25 April 2015 11:06 (eight years ago) link

wtf @ this frame. Ding had the match at his mercy then a bad contact. Higgins wins on the last black - still 12-9 down.

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 25 April 2015 11:07 (eight years ago) link

ok Ding has missed a fkn sitter...

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 25 April 2015 11:10 (eight years ago) link

one more chance Ding - keeping nerves steady time, talking about myself here
