youre in dreamland if you think the WI will be bowled out cheaply or twice.

Hey I said nothing about our bowling prospects. As it happens, I think there's enough in the pitch and atmospherically to make taking wickets possible, it's just that WI haven't been interested in that.

^^^this. Swann and Panesar will have joy.

Lets run a sweep for which over lj starts abusing monty

the west indies had the chance to bowl england out here and theyre still playing for a draw. It seems to suit them england batting on all day. WI will prob bat for 3 days in the 1st innings given the chance. Even Gayle probably wont go for one of his swashbuckling innings. Maybe he fancies a triple hundred that takes 3 days to get it.

We'll see, a lot of time left in this match.

its gonna be slow boring zero entertainment stuff thats for sure. WI arent interested in anything other than a draw. So i cant see them throwing away wickets. Our only hope is if the ball swings.

we have 2 of the worst umpires in the world thankfully the 3rd umpire is damn good and has reversed 2 awful decisions.

Declare already.

im calling a draw now. west indies to bat for 3 days score 700

thats out. umpires are fucking shite in this series

not out. thats a fucking joke. no more referrals now

game over

oh well it says it was missing stumps fair enough

game over anyhoo

Heh. Boycott's quite good on the radio with referrals - not much analysis other than 'hmm, didn't look out'

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 7 March 2009 20:54 (fifteen years ago) link

this is some horrific bowling

with no referrals left it means if shocking decisions go against the bowlers fuck all can be done.

like just there. *sigh* it was hitting the stumps and it pitched inside

cricket's been alright on that basis for the last 130 years, to be fair xp

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 7 March 2009 21:02 (fifteen years ago) link

Monty!!!!

Absolutely no turn but smith played for it like KP did and bowled. We shouldn't get too excited though, it was a bad shot, not a turning delivery.
But its a wicket!

well hello there

Any more promise from today's pitch? I can't believe this match is going to just fizzle out - ultra-defensive 7-batsman selections usually go horribly wrong somehow (at least they do when England pick them)

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 8 March 2009 15:13 (fifteen years ago) link

Basically, England have a fantastic chance to take this game from a negative WI, and I suspect they just might do it. It'll take some good bowling from the spinners, though.

We've bowled well so far, if we can keep this pressure up and get Gayle out then the prospects look pretty good IMO.

Now, where's Herman for a prognostication of doom?

zero learnt from nero (Neil S), Sunday, 8 March 2009 15:22 (fifteen years ago) link

you know its a draw. no point in watching

lol Owais Shah is to running as Mitchell Johnson is to blunt-force trauma

Has there ever been a test series with less wickets taken? ZZZZZZZZZZ... What we need is uncovered pitches and playing in twilight.

jel --, Sunday, 8 March 2009 17:11 (fifteen years ago) link

i think i'm with pfunkboy on that last lbw decision...panesar's bowling pretty well!

they probably drink corporate water (country matters), Sunday, 8 March 2009 18:40 (fifteen years ago) link

Bob Willis says Russell Tiffin and Daryl Harper are the two worst umpires he has ever seen standing in a Test - certainly Tiffin is terrible, but I would insert the name of Ian Howell in there, who, while not actually a member of the Elite Panel, does sometimes stand in Tests and is execrable.

While I'm here, thank God someone has finally told Viv Richards that Christoper Martin-Jenkins first name isn't Martin - thought it's taken them 5 tests to do it. Now can someone give Viv a thesaurus to find an alternative word for "individual"
