I didn't vote in this, but would have gone for One More Hour, barely, over Dig Me Out. Those are the two tracks that have stuck with me the most over the years. Hope they both make it!

"Dig Me Out" -- that killer no-nonsense riff saying "We're not messing around, plus hey let's introduce our new drummer..." BOOOM BOOOM BOOOOOM.

the roll in w&g at 1:17 before it kicks into the bridge, straight through "rock until you're good and dead"

so good

does anyone else write songs like s/k? everything about their sound, their riffs, feels really distinct, like from a whole different place

A Real Man #1

Catching up, "Words & Guitar" was my number one, just one of the most flat out fun rock songs ever put to tape.

I have a feeling what #1 will be but...no, it can't be.

Prisstina for the win. Was there ever any doubt?

kornrulez6969, Thursday, 1 May 2014 01:06 (ten years ago) link

Surprised One More Hour isn't number one. It looks like I voted for all the top five. Not sure that's ever happened before.

Kitchen Person, Thursday, 1 May 2014 01:06 (ten years ago) link

Still room for "Buy Her Candy"!

Nice pic above for One More Hour. They both look great there.

We know what #1 will be so there's no suspense. I am surprised nothing from the first album especially Be Yr Mama placed.

Voted for it, but figured it wouldn't make it.

Thanks to all for Participating (be it voting, commenting, or both)! Here's two more bonus vids I had a brain fart about and didn't post when the tracks just came up.

horseshoe s-k karaoke is harder than you think, you try it once or twice and the you're like 'ok, maybe stick to pavement songs'

balls, Thursday, 1 May 2014 01:22 (ten years ago) link

ha i've never actually done it, except in my bedroom. i would be crushed to discover just how much i don't sing like corin tucker, amplified.

horseshoe, Thursday, 1 May 2014 01:23 (ten years ago) link

My #1, "Get Up" was the first s/k song I fell for and it's the greatest. Thanks for doing the poll! Never really spoken to people about s-k that much so it's been really interesting to see the results.

devvvine, Thursday, 1 May 2014 01:24 (ten years ago) link

Great result and a great poll.

Kitchen Person, Thursday, 1 May 2014 01:26 (ten years ago) link

WAIT -- balls, you've seen S-K in karaoke machines????

guess that bundt gettin eaten (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 1 May 2014 01:27 (ten years ago) link

yeah we used to have indie rock karaoke here then dude moved to idaho and it just became regular karaoke (actually i guess new guy does have some bikini kill but still it's mainly sorority girls and divorcees alternating between queen and reba). you can ask casino about it. guy was back in town last xmas so there was a one-off show, i closed w/ rem's 'find the river' and pavement's 'here', both right in my wheelhouse.

balls, Thursday, 1 May 2014 01:38 (ten years ago) link

now you need to cover a song from Paisley's Wheelhouse.

guess that bundt gettin eaten (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 1 May 2014 01:41 (ten years ago) link

Guess it doesn't matter that I didn't vote for Turn It On, or for One More Hour for that matter

sonic thedgehod (albvivertine), Thursday, 1 May 2014 01:43 (ten years ago) link

Funny, "Get Up" was one I would've expected to make my top 10, but then I didn't even vote for it. I got on an SK rockers kick and didn't leave room for it. Great song tho. As fair a #1 as any.

that Dig Me Out gilman st. footage is from the first time i saw them. 95 degree day in Berserkeley and a slew of bands opened so it was a absolute sweatbox by the time s-k came on and managed ~30 minute set (gilman is a tiny little cement cube). in that short span they far exceeded anything i might've been expecting/hoping for, they just blew me away. no way they couldn't be my fave band of the decade after that
