100 * 100 = no handshake from Trump

StanM, Wednesday, 30 April 2014 21:34 (nine years ago) link

Robertson has been terrific. Trump has hardly breathed from leading 11-9 onwards

xyzzzz__, Wednesday, 30 April 2014 21:35 (nine years ago) link

Looked like Trump would force a decider after Robertson gets a bad white but he could only force a 35 break.

Robertson makes no mistake -- terrific green to brown -- and dumps Trump out of WC, 13-11

xyzzzz__, Wednesday, 30 April 2014 21:54 (nine years ago) link

Robertson - Ronnie would be a terrific final. The former is the only that could touch Ronnie.

I said could.

xyzzzz__, Wednesday, 30 April 2014 21:55 (nine years ago) link

playing like that, definitely could

imago, Wednesday, 30 April 2014 22:00 (nine years ago) link

Nobody expects Hawkins or Selby in the final? (I don't either, but they are in the semi final, the can't be that bad)

StanM, Wednesday, 30 April 2014 22:12 (nine years ago) link

Selby has a minor chance against Robertson. The latter is in very good form and can be unstoppable when he gets going. That comeback was v similar to the way Ronnie shifted gears against Joe Perry.

Glad Trump is out - the hype around him when he first 'broke through' was embarrassing.

xyzzzz__, Thursday, 1 May 2014 09:22 (nine years ago) link

but they are in the semi final, the can't be that bad)

i dunno have watched a lot of the matches leading to the semi final they've all been pretty shit

^ 諷刺 (ken c), Thursday, 1 May 2014 11:10 (nine years ago) link

neil robertson probably the only one on good form.

^ 諷刺 (ken c), Thursday, 1 May 2014 11:10 (nine years ago) link

Man, I still totally hate that "let's get the boys... on the baize!" guy.

StanM, Thursday, 1 May 2014 12:11 (nine years ago) link

It's like the Sean Murphy game: Ronnio isn't playing at his best, not by a very very long way, but he's 6-2 in front...

StanM, Thursday, 1 May 2014 15:14 (nine years ago) link

lol, Ronnio typo

StanM, Thursday, 1 May 2014 15:15 (nine years ago) link

Man, I still totally hate that "let's get the boys... on the baize!" guy.

I think he's personally responsible for half of these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_snooker_player_nicknames

pick it up for ripple laser (onimo), Thursday, 1 May 2014 15:50 (nine years ago) link

"barry hawkins to break" - he already has, I'd say.

StanM, Friday, 2 May 2014 09:44 (nine years ago) link

Hilarious, he has basically annihilated anybody bar Joe Perry...no traces of a tortured soul at all. He has actually become efficient and frightening to play in the last couple of years, virtually no 'incidents'.

xyzzzz__, Friday, 2 May 2014 10:32 (nine years ago) link

Oh, and another thing: headset wearing punters laughing because the BBC pundits are cracking jokes: dud.

StanM, Friday, 2 May 2014 12:27 (nine years ago) link

Snooker player nicknames are the worst. Did we poll some of them once? We should.

ailsa, Friday, 2 May 2014 12:42 (nine years ago) link

Robbo is The Centurion now? Groan.

StanM, Friday, 2 May 2014 13:37 (nine years ago) link

Robertson has lost his way in the match - long potting gone astray.

Selby on the way to 10-6. No biggie, plenty of time to pull it back.

xyzzzz__, Friday, 2 May 2014 16:51 (nine years ago) link

Selby has broken down on 53, great chance for Robertson!!

xyzzzz__, Friday, 2 May 2014 16:56 (nine years ago) link

Pinches it: 9-7!

xyzzzz__, Friday, 2 May 2014 16:58 (nine years ago) link

glad Robertson won that; Selby couldn't win 4 frames in a row playing that badly without offending some divine guardian of the game

imago, Friday, 2 May 2014 16:59 (nine years ago) link

How many kicks has Hawkins got in this match? About five?

xyzzzz__, Friday, 2 May 2014 18:13 (nine years ago) link

Smoking hot long shots from Ronnie: 13 - 6.

xyzzzz__, Friday, 2 May 2014 18:57 (nine years ago) link

jesus mode time.

Century and now "black tied up/pink tied up". 30 secs after and its a frame winning chance

xyzzzz__, Friday, 2 May 2014 19:55 (nine years ago) link

Ronnie when he's in the zone = zen

StanM, Friday, 2 May 2014 20:00 (nine years ago) link

Barry losing heart.

xyzzzz__, Friday, 2 May 2014 20:01 (nine years ago) link

Who can blame him?

xyzzzz__, Friday, 2 May 2014 20:02 (nine years ago) link

How is O'Sullivan only placed 33rd in the world ranking? Does he only play the tournaments with the highest prize money?

StanM, Friday, 2 May 2014 20:16 (nine years ago) link

I think he selects a few tournaments.

xyzzzz__, Friday, 2 May 2014 20:22 (nine years ago) link

Anyway, into the final and a session early again.

His long potting is razor-sharp now.

xyzzzz__, Friday, 2 May 2014 20:22 (nine years ago) link

Poor Barry. Still, he did get 7 frames this time.

StanM, Friday, 2 May 2014 20:24 (nine years ago) link

I think the question is will Robertson or Selby be too knackered to play? It seems that Robertson takes a session to warm up and that might not be good enough if he gets through..

xyzzzz__, Friday, 2 May 2014 20:30 (nine years ago) link

The long, scrappy, tactical battle frames in their match are probably doubly exhausting as well+ this one could very easily end in 16-17.

StanM, Friday, 2 May 2014 20:39 (nine years ago) link

How does the ticketing work for snooker tournaments? There'll be people with tickets for the last session of the Ronnie semi I guess. Some disclaimer? We reserve the right to make alteration to the advertised details for the performance and you may get some John Virgo trick shots instead. It must happen all the time.

Eyeball Kicks, Friday, 2 May 2014 23:25 (nine years ago) link

Said with the most bored & serious expression ever: "my nickname is The Jester from Leicester"

StanM, Saturday, 3 May 2014 09:04 (nine years ago) link

lol - lets if he has slept off that opportunity to go four up.

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 3 May 2014 09:13 (nine years ago) link

"he always plays with a smile on his face, that's why we call him the jester" : no, he bloody doesn't, it's just the only thing you could think of that rhymed with Leicester, you knobhead.

StanM, Saturday, 3 May 2014 09:19 (nine years ago) link

Blow for blow at the min: 10-8

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 3 May 2014 09:41 (nine years ago) link

Happy? No!

lol

StanM, Saturday, 3 May 2014 10:08 (nine years ago) link

Epic frame - this is the type that Selby would win.

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 3 May 2014 10:40 (nine years ago) link

ok ok, he is pretty funny, I take back what I said.

StanM, Saturday, 3 May 2014 10:58 (nine years ago) link

In the final against John Higgins Selby did do funny faces and the like, think that's where it comes from.

Another epic - Neil should've won this but missed a blue off the spot.

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 3 May 2014 11:06 (nine years ago) link

Some fantastic safety play here from both of them.

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 3 May 2014 11:09 (nine years ago) link

All square at the mid-session.

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 3 May 2014 11:24 (nine years ago) link

wow, a wewack!

StanM, Saturday, 3 May 2014 11:51 (nine years ago) link

Trump was run over once Robertson got going - not Selby, 70+ break to regain the lead.

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 3 May 2014 12:06 (nine years ago) link

Are referees paid by the hour?

StanM, Saturday, 3 May 2014 13:01 (nine years ago) link

12 all. Not stellar, but entertaining.

StanM, Saturday, 3 May 2014 13:28 (nine years ago) link

LOL, just rewound a little because I thought I heard it and Willie Thorn actually really just said "it's going to be a real battle of nutrition"

StanM, Saturday, 3 May 2014 18:10 (nine years ago) link
