oh wow, he just basically made it sound like the forced sale was already all but a done deal -- he said he "fully expects" to get the support he needs to remove him, didn't even leave the possibility open.

Which I take to means he's talked to all the owners and at least 75% said they'd vote to oust Sterling.

Any cynical thought that pops into my head about this is tempered by "it wasn't that long ago that they wouldn't have even done something like this cynically"

i think the r-skins thing is actually worse since it's embedded into the culture of the NFL so deeply that it's more difficult to dislodge. sterling said horrible things but the NBA just straightaway booted him. the NFL has all their whining about tradition and "it's a difficult issue".
