pic is not big but this thing really is impressive in person.

"The Tower of the Sun (太陽の塔 Taiyō no Tō?) is a building created by Japanese artist Tarō Okamoto. It was known as the symbol of Expo '70 and currently is preserved and located in the Expo Commemoration Park in Suita, Osaka, Japan. The tower has three faces on its front and back."

I like this statue of Lenin in Kazakhstan, it's less gigantic than some of the other statues in this thread, though

bonus non-gigantic Lenin statue

seems like genghis khan is finished terrorizing everyone & is content to survey his homeland for eternity. this is still uncannily huge though

there's something about the motherland calls that's spooky, maybe because it's also commemorating a battle where a million people died.

Put 100+ hours into dark souls, about to pick this up next Wednesday (after I sit for an actuary exam which has been ruining my life the last couple months)

Isn't it also positioned directly on top of the mass grave of those dead? It's an amazing statue and def my vote

weird in a way that so many of these are situated near pylons. seems to add another level of grotesque horror.

that ushiku daibutsu buddha seems especially jarring.

so many great things posted that I've missed, some statues have a v intense energy about them & depending on which angle you see them from, it can change. I don't know what the airavata is but it is pretty hectic

I've never been there but as far as I can tell Denver airport was built to fuck with people who think the illuminati is real. There is a popular conspiracy theory that it's the HQ of the New World Order, largely because of the bizarre architecture and decor.

idk if anyone itt is into these statues from a religious pov, it seems alien to me but clearly lots of people flock to them. curious how something can be a focus of religious attention as well as a spectacle. found this pic of what is apparently a buddhist temple in a theme park in ho chi minh city, vietnam, seems notable

hanuman is a v charismatic deity, I love how he avoids monkey stereotypes & is always show as noble, devoted & heroic. also love the physiques on hindu statues in general. otoh he is armed & this statue is needlessly huge
