What's wrong with buying clothes from M&S?

Branwell Bell, Saturday, 19 April 2014 11:15 (nine years ago) link

Nothing - I buy practically all my clothes from there.

About 2/3 of those duds are more stylish than most of what I wear

Oh my god sweatpants. A friend was saying she met a hot guy on the train and the really important thing was how good his legs looked in his sweatpants. No.

you can't....tell how someone's legs look in sweatpants. i am confused.

also you always look like you're walking around half-aroused

"look like"

That makes sweatpants a clear benefit to those who are walking around fully aroused.

Me too, pal. Me too.

I think it's very hard to pull off this look in a way that doesn't just come off as "I am a dork."

Doritos Loco Parentis (Hurting 2), Sunday, 20 April 2014 03:01 (nine years ago) link

That's why I am regarded widely, by those who care about fashion and who carefully choose the 'look' of their clothes as a well thought out ensemble, as a dork.

i'm all about this, especially as a license to wear my ll bean windbreaker. i also like those really 90s-looking, washed out denim shirts.

one month passes...

a salesperson at lenscrafters trying to talk me into pretty cool, kind of retro 70s sunglasses that nonetheless seemed more like women's sunglasses than men's sunglasses said that it would work with my "hipster" look. i replied that i thought my personal aesthetic was more "neutral" than anything. she considered this for a second and then said, "i like this. i am going to say this from now on instead of saying i have no style."

No, I'm what "normcore" seeks to reify (or understand, really, because it's too young to have been there).

But also not. Really, wgaf.

i was going to order some things now that they ship to the us but i don't know if the quality is any good. i like the style though

seriously, THIS GUY (daria-g), Friday, 26 September 2014 02:36 (nine years ago) link

yeah. its actually owned by h&m

the quality is basically midrange mass produced stuff slightly better than like banana republic and club monaco but way less than quality heritage brands or real designer stuff. that said a friend of mine has some of their shoes theyve held up really well and look fantastic

i like their stuff too and i always bring lots of back when i go to europe but i feel like w/ us shipping and the nyc store it will kinda just be like uniqlo or w/e now
