Amazed how consistently GREAT this series has been since it began.

That elusive North American wood-ape (Capitaine Jay Vee), Saturday, 5 April 2014 19:15 (ten years ago) link

This series is such an exquisitely crafted work of hideous beauty, long may it continue.

Oh god seeing Hannibal in bed with Alana (>_<)

xelab, Saturday, 5 April 2014 20:58 (ten years ago) link

So can we cut it out with the trolling about whether Hannibal is the ripper or not after this episode? b/c that shit from upthread has been driving me nuts all week.

Spoken like a true Protestant.

MV, Sunday, 6 April 2014 13:35 (ten years ago) link

How could he be the ripper? He's a trusted psychiatrist.

Now we know directly threatening Madshannibal is going to be just as amazing as apparently harmless Dr. Madslecter. Also holy crap what a lot of meat. Only thing I didn't love was all the digital reverb on the harpsichord, but since the used a real one with a real player I suppose I shouldn't complain too much.

Janice Poon, the show's food stylist, has a fantastic blog about putting together the meals featured on the show. - http://janicepoonart.blogspot.com/2014/04/episode-6-futamono.html

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 8 April 2014 20:08 (ten years ago) link

wow so all the hannibal/alana shippers finally get some fanservice. what should we call the pair? hanlana? alannibal?

wonder where gideon is and why he's having such weird hallucinations.

wat is teh waht (s.clover), Thursday, 10 April 2014 19:09 (ten years ago) link

no alannibal at all this episode!

now that we know gideon was the ripper (makes a lot of sense, in retrospect. don't know how i didn't see it) then is the show just going to introduce a new big bad soon?

wat is teh waht (s.clover), Sunday, 13 April 2014 01:49 (ten years ago) link

you mean Chilton. I don't know how you could make such a grievous oversight.

a strange man (mh), Sunday, 13 April 2014 02:06 (ten years ago) link

you're right! i usually pay much more attention to the details in this show.

Chlumsky was amazing last week. Still kinda meh on the show lately, though.

Simon H., Wednesday, 16 April 2014 23:37 (ten years ago) link

dang, this is the Verger family intro, isn't it?

Jeremy Davies was a treat

a strange man (mh), Saturday, 19 April 2014 22:37 (nine years ago) link

He is really turning into a stunning character actor, really enjoyed him in this.

Can we just: inside A HORSE
O_O

the bird reveal was awesome

Hats off to whoever's thinking up these crazy scenarios

The bird that flew out was a starling, FYI.

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 20 April 2014 01:16 (nine years ago) link

I'm think she's mason verger's sister

jbn, Sunday, 20 April 2014 01:33 (nine years ago) link

oh of course

can't wait for him to show up - michael pitt's playing him <3

glad to see they retained mason verger's human tears martinis.

slam dunk, Sunday, 20 April 2014 22:32 (nine years ago) link

I wonder how far they're gonna go with Mason Verger. He's such a repugnant character in the book: woman beater, sadist, rapist, child molester. The worst. It'll be great to see him lose his face.

Count on them doing something even nastier.

thankfully Fuller didn't go with the novel's version of Margot:

In the novel, she’s a very masculine character, who has had years of steroid abuse and is a lesbian, and it was unclear to me in the novel whether she was either transgender or a lesbian as a result of those horrible abuses and that horrible childhood and [Beat.] that’s not how transgenderism or homosexuality works. So I didn’t want to contribute to that misconception of what it is to be transgender or a gay woman.

Insane Prince of False Binaries (Gukbe), Monday, 21 April 2014 12:30 (nine years ago) link

Was there any reference to Chilton at all, this week? I'm kind of assuming he made it, but it really seemed like he was killed.

a strange man (mh), Monday, 21 April 2014 14:08 (nine years ago) link

FISH

j., Friday, 25 April 2014 01:53 (nine years ago) link

good to see jeremy davies is still cutting his own hair

there was a lot of nietzsche in this episode—early on, and in alanna's interview w/ the social worker (sociopaths 'keep us on our toes' is basically the explanation he floats for the value of murderous immorality to the human race in 'the gay science'), and in davies' sympathy for the horse

j., Friday, 25 April 2014 02:49 (nine years ago) link

Aw we didn't get to see Will Graham kill the man in the prehistoric bear amour.

the joke should be over once the kid is eaten. (chap), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 02:03 (nine years ago) link

Just read on imdb that David Tennant auditioned for Lecter and was deemed excellent, but it didn't work out for some reason. Think I prefer it this way.

lol hannibal owns a theremin

a strange man (mh), Saturday, 3 May 2014 02:31 (nine years ago) link

i've enjoyed how ever since will told hannibal that he was finally interesting to him (as opposed to before when will had to fake it), everything hannibal has said in phony person-suit mode has been insufferably pseud-y

"button-stitching"

Roz, Saturday, 3 May 2014 05:54 (nine years ago) link

Oh man, Margot totally slept with Will so she could get pregnant and bear a legitimate male heir so she can kill her brother – that's pretty goddamn twisted. I love this show.

J3ff T., Saturday, 3 May 2014 06:42 (nine years ago) link

so will told freddie he would explain things but then we never heard the explanation? this show can be confusing sometimes

wat is teh waht (s.clover), Sunday, 4 May 2014 00:37 (nine years ago) link

I think there's still the outside chance Will killed wildlife man in self-defense, stashed his organs to later serve up to Hannibal, and Freddie is hidden away somewhere. It's Will cat fishing Hannibal.

a strange man (mh), Sunday, 4 May 2014 00:58 (nine years ago) link

Oh man I hope so!!!!!

carl agatha, Sunday, 4 May 2014 01:58 (nine years ago) link

That's obviously what's happening.
