how have u adjusted to the realization that u are franz schubert

nakhchivan, Wednesday, 2 April 2014 21:27 (ten years ago) link

31 January 1797 – 19 November 1828

u must be close to outliving your first incarnation

nakhchivan, Wednesday, 2 April 2014 21:29 (ten years ago) link

The cause of his death was officially diagnosed as typhoid fever, though other theories have been proposed, including the tertiary stage of syphilis.[60]

forum enthusiast (wins), Wednesday, 2 April 2014 21:58 (ten years ago) link

that would explain why the current incarnation of deems/schubert no longer drinks from stagnant ponds or visits viennese houses of ill repute

a respected member of the hip-hop criticism community (nakhchivan), Wednesday, 2 April 2014 22:04 (ten years ago) link

Which in turn explains my having outlived.

Still, you die and learn eh

recommend me a new bagman (darraghmac), Thursday, 3 April 2014 06:53 (ten years ago) link

my view exactly

three weeks pass...

darraghmac, what is your favourite situation comedy?

dickbait (wins), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:13 (nine years ago) link

That alf garnett were a right life.

james lipton and his francs (darraghmac), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 22:28 (nine years ago) link

idk what all counts. yr porridge and yr steptoe and son and yr yes ministers all had somethin but i dig right through to arrested development or boosh or conchords if they all count.

im not a fr ted fanatic but i have a sense of ownership of it that makes it that bit more dear to me.

Rossiter of course is peerless. Hmmm. Good question.

james lipton and his francs (darraghmac), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 22:32 (nine years ago) link

what is your favourite album by a band

Little Saint Hugh of Lincoln (nakhchivan), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 23:44 (nine years ago) link

Oof something appalingly indie i guess, i dont rly have a favourite 'album' by 'a band' tho or at least i havent in a dozen years

james lipton and his francs (darraghmac), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 23:49 (nine years ago) link

I am never surprised when darraghmac appears in a thread as The Voice of Reason. Nor am I surprised when he appears in a thread armed with spitballs and a wicked aim. He has that kind of versatility.

Aimless, Wednesday, 30 April 2014 00:18 (nine years ago) link

You're the 1st person to mention rossiter! Prob the best "canon" choice

wins, Wednesday, 30 April 2014 06:00 (nine years ago) link

The agonies of morgan, rossiter, corbett all seem of a type to me

james lipton and his francs (darraghmac), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 11:45 (nine years ago) link

yeah, altho arguably Steptoe is less of a heel than the other two

you poll a lot, but you're not saying anything (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 12:27 (nine years ago) link

Eh his sins mirror teds in many ways i think, the prideful yen for escape of purgatorially dull company to an alternative more feared than the staying

james lipton and his francs (darraghmac), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 12:39 (nine years ago) link

ah but don't forget Ted isn't above the odd bit of embezzlement, more or less lethal disregard for the needs of others etc

you poll a lot, but you're not saying anything (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 12:40 (nine years ago) link

Ted's and Rigsby's respective Hells feel more of their own making, Harold's is more arbitrary maybe

you poll a lot, but you're not saying anything (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 12:41 (nine years ago) link

sorry, "of their own making" as in appropriate punishment for their sins

you poll a lot, but you're not saying anything (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 12:41 (nine years ago) link

Perrin a different beast obv and more of a horror performance at times for that

xp those daybyday throwaway tedisms are more satires of the irish political class than core characteristic imo

james lipton and his francs (darraghmac), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 12:43 (nine years ago) link

The sins, purgatory, guilt, punishment catholicism (tho obv perrin couldnt be much more coe) aspects run deep through all in any case and prob draw me deeper in than other sitcom examples

james lipton and his francs (darraghmac), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 12:45 (nine years ago) link

Ted is really beholden to The Third Policeman in a bunch of ways i think

you poll a lot, but you're not saying anything (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 12:54 (nine years ago) link

Im sure if i knew enough about dante the other two would suggest similar parallels but yeah tonally and everything else ted is permeated with the anguish of the surreal and the impossible mundane

james lipton and his francs (darraghmac), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 12:58 (nine years ago) link

rly feeling dmac atm

think he's secretly one of the best & fairest advice givers on ilx

nakhchivan, Tuesday, 30 September 2014 01:56 (nine years ago) link

We must face facts. Deems, although we may love him as much as any man this side of idolatry, has little latin and less greek. Takes him down a peg or two.

Aimless, Tuesday, 30 September 2014 02:02 (nine years ago) link

idk do I like an entire album. I'd struggle to pick five I'd bother to take to a desert island.

zero content albums (darraghmac), Tuesday, 30 September 2014 02:13 (nine years ago) link

the aul fella used to have Latin got him nowhere has Irish got him nowhere had Norwegian got him to Norway didnt bother with Dutch despite living there for years I said I'd stick with French and English they were forcing me to learn those but at least they didn't claim I had a moral duty to love em unlike with the gaeilge

zero content albums (darraghmac), Tuesday, 30 September 2014 02:16 (nine years ago) link

the posh school on the island still did Latin as of 99 which is just lunacy imho

zero content albums (darraghmac), Tuesday, 30 September 2014 02:17 (nine years ago) link

was a time all the posh boyos had latin up the wazoo. what's more, you could kick a ball in the street.

Aimless, Tuesday, 30 September 2014 03:46 (nine years ago) link

we had a posh school, absolutely no posh boyos tbh

The Chillis

Jens Ehm - Gitarren, Leadstimme –

Spider Murphy Gang (All-Star-Band),

Infrarot (early 80's), Flex Machine,

KEINE AHNUNG, Müller, Maier, Schmitt zu Gange.

The Chillis werden Sie begeistern – „Accoustic & Live“
