im not a fr ted fanatic but i have a sense of ownership of it that makes it that bit more dear to me.

yeah, altho arguably Steptoe is less of a heel than the other two

Eh his sins mirror teds in many ways i think, the prideful yen for escape of purgatorially dull company to an alternative more feared than the staying

ah but don't forget Ted isn't above the odd bit of embezzlement, more or less lethal disregard for the needs of others etc

Ted's and Rigsby's respective Hells feel more of their own making, Harold's is more arbitrary maybe

sorry, "of their own making" as in appropriate punishment for their sins

Perrin a different beast obv and more of a horror performance at times for that

xp those daybyday throwaway tedisms are more satires of the irish political class than core characteristic imo

The sins, purgatory, guilt, punishment catholicism (tho obv perrin couldnt be much more coe) aspects run deep through all in any case and prob draw me deeper in than other sitcom examples

Im sure if i knew enough about dante the other two would suggest similar parallels but yeah tonally and everything else ted is permeated with the anguish of the surreal and the impossible mundane

idk do I like an entire album. I'd struggle to pick five I'd bother to take to a desert island.

the aul fella used to have Latin got him nowhere has Irish got him nowhere had Norwegian got him to Norway didnt bother with Dutch despite living there for years I said I'd stick with French and English they were forcing me to learn those but at least they didn't claim I had a moral duty to love em unlike with the gaeilge

the posh school on the island still did Latin as of 99 which is just lunacy imho
