finally got the vinyl so I can hear this laziest river business

truly a record for all seasons

still one of my favourite albums of the last x years.
is there a new one planned ?

From December 2013 interview:

"In 2014, I'm going to try and make a record! Hopefully I'll have something done by the end of the year."

kinda disappointing that he's lost interest in the 'pop' of kaputt

I'm the opposite, all the dour-and-not-pop stuff in this interview is making me quite optimistic about this new record (I didn't care for Kaputt)

I loved Kaputt, by far the best he's done imo, but it was great in a way that could be done with a lot of different sounds. I love Dream Lover as well, so I have hope.

I love Kaputt and don't expect him to repeat it (or me to care about the band again).

Alfred, did you hear Five Spanish Songs? not sure how it would play to someone who actually understands the lyrics, but I found it an interesting companion piece to Kaputt sonically

Kaputt is easily my favourite, and Dream Lover keeps the feel of the band from Kaputt despite kinda returning to his usual 70's-ish style so I'm quite hopeful. The press release mentions Prefab Sprout etc. which I know were a big influence on Kaputt so if that's still evident it'll be nice.

What originally got me hooked on Destroyer was how spot on the Ziggy Stardust sound was on Streethawk, so I'm pretty thrilled this record goes for "70s Springsteen/Bowie street-rock".

I would watch a true detective with Dan bejar saying shit like "beware the company you reside in" over and over while Blake Shelton is like wtf man

Re that Pitchfork interview, kinda wish he was as tough on Jessica Pratt whom he praises, as he is on Taylor Swift. But he is who he is.

in the kaputt vs. let england shake thread there's a lot of great posts about how this record def contains sophistopop references but also takes them a step further, sounding like an idiosyncratic contemporary of these records that was never made at the time
