Surely you meant to title this poll as 'the least worst Limp Bizkit single'.

Surely you meant to post on some message board where boring received wisdom about uncool bands never fails to be upheld

some dude, Sunday, 9 March 2014 20:29 (ten years ago) link

i didn't learn what a "limp bizkit" is until just the other day

i don't know if my respect for the band has increased or descreased

Karl Malone, Sunday, 9 March 2014 20:37 (ten years ago) link

The only non-covers I remember from this list are "Nookie", "Rollin'", and "Break Stuff". I listened to them today. Imo, the latter two are just embarrassing but "Nookie" actually sounds convincingly cold and desperate now.

I think it's easily "Rollin"

Limp Bizkit has not crossed my mind even once in at least ten years, but looooool-ing at myself for how angry I used to get about their popularity.

Voting for Nookie because heyyyyyyyy

Clearly Break Stuff.

Does Let Me Down not count?

What about that song Crushed? Think it was on a soundtrack to something in 1999.

LimbsKing, Monday, 19 May 2014 10:57 (nine years ago) link

the beat to nookie is the most classic thing they've ever done. also the entirety of break stuff

What's the difference between white and black anyway. The way i see it, everyone is just another shade of gray, not outward, but inward. Eitherway, were all the same, and all different. Equally unique. Maybe your just one of the less forward thinking people out there, and though your intellect very low, your still equally a human being so i won't discriminate against you for being a simpleton.

Last version of this was a close victory for "Rollin'," perhaps partly owing to Britisher sentiments. Wonder if ILX's hivemind has shifted much on these guys in the last six years.

three dollar bill yall > chocolate starfish > significant other

significant other is an amazing-sounding record and i enjoy the kitchen sink parts of it, like, who would ever want a limp bizkit song with strings??? yet there is one and it rocks (“don’t go off wandering”). i think it just has one too many songs about how cool it is to be in a band (“nineteen ninety nine” vs. “show me what you got”) and “no sex” is embarrassing. “a lesson learned” is a trip-hop song

chocolate starfish feels just ever-so-slightly more accomplished musically, the songs all have interesting twists or weird harmonic things going on (cf. the riff in “rollin”). as for fred durst......... well one side effect of his limitations as a rapper and his v whiny grapplings with fame is that this record is very fucking funny. this is dedicated to you ben stiller!!!! you are my favorite motherfuckaer

it's sort of an rhcp effect, fundamentally great band with a frontman i would find repellant if he weren't so central to the band's identity

borland and frusciante have a lot of overlap in both attitude and playing

prob an essay to be written about scott weiland's relationship with this band. i've always loved this very weird and creepy song, and i just learned that this guitar solos-averse band sorta capitulated by giving john otto a huge drum solo during the bridge of this thing

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Thursday, 18 February 2021 15:50 (three years ago) link

I am getting the sense that you're on a serious nu-metal / rap-rock nostalgia kick based on the collection of bands you're reflecting on across multiple threads. Or is it just confirmation bias?

Evan, Thursday, 18 February 2021 16:04 (three years ago) link

i watched the movie valentine last weekend and there's a scene where a huge valentine's day party is soundtracked by orgy's "opticon," which has brought me to this point, yes

“N 2 Gether Now” is the closest thing to cred this album has.

I’m also partial to the bassline in “rearrenged”, that’s a good one.

Fred Durst is awful throughout though

my teen friends and i were pretty up on "N 2 Gether Now," but mostly for the beat, Method Man, and the squiggley censoring effect for the chorus on MTV.
