Ha ha! It looked so much more appertising than his usual poncy nouvelle cuisine crap.

idk if that's an apt summary of what he cooks, you know
i was going to make osso bucco next weekend but i just, i don't know anymore

also i feel like it was a shame he didn't make risotto milanese with it because i felt deprived of squeamish moments involving marrow

the musical cue with the leg, though! this show.
does he ever just have a sandwich

i feel like the 'protein scramble' from ep one or two was meant to establish that he also ate food without napkins and silverware, yes

he was on the road there
coulda just eaten a gas station burrito but no, he's very particular about what he puts into his body
sandwiches are nice, you can put them into your body

i love the food design etc in this show. everything makes me hungry, even when they show what/who is in the dish lol. jose andres is doing awesome work consulting for this show

This continues to be ludicrous and ravishing in equal measures. It would have to go pretty far down the shitter for me not to continue watching for the art direction and Mikkelsen.

There was Osse Bucco in the cafeteria today. It damn near made me sick. Why do I watch this show?
Oh yeah, because it's the best show on tv...

Was Cynthia Nixon's character aware of the judge's murder beforehand? It looked like she was surprised for a split second that the judge was hung with his heart and brain out on display and then right after went right into chastising Jack for defending Will. She must be used to that sort of display!

So has anyone noticed the sheer glee they're having in putting Hannibal Lecter's dialogue from the movies in Will's mouth this season? "You want to know how he's choosing them" (from Manhunter), "[Dr. Lecter] doesn't want me dwelling on anything morbid" (from Silence), and I noticed a third one but it's slipped my mind at the moment.
― CAROUSEL! CAROUSEL! (Telephone thing), Saturday, 15 March 2014 05:06 (ten years ago) link
Favorite moment: Hannibal entering the courtroom to testify, shot from angles where his face is obscured by the backlight. He really looked like a demon in those shots.
Also, I have no idea who is actually comitting the gun-murders. I mean, I have a theory, as every time I've had doubts on who has killed whom, it's always been Hannibal. But I constantly think 'well, maybe there's something else going on, he seemed so sad when he discussed the case with Will...'
― Frederik B, Sunday, 16 March 2014 16:08 (ten years ago) link
it's Hannibal.

man when is someone gonna kill dr. chilton already
― j., Monday, 17 March 2014 01:32 (ten years ago) link
I like how they've expanded and shuffled the backstory of the books around but I doubt they're gonna stray from the broad strokes and kill a character like Chilton early.
― Quinoa Phoenix (latebloomer), Monday, 17 March 2014 01:37 (ten years ago) link
What an unwieldy sentence
I keep thinking how great it'd be if he died, as well.

― Herbie Handcock (Murgatroid), Monday, 17 March 2014 03:27 (ten years ago) link
It's difficult, as I really like the character on the show. He's just such an obnoxious presence that you want _something_ bad to happen to him.
― have a nice blood (mh), Monday, 17 March 2014 14:04 (ten years ago) link
hee hee, he's already had a serial killer pull his own organs out of him while he consciously, helplessly looks on, and yet i agree it WASN'T ENOUGH.
― reddening, Monday, 17 March 2014 17:30 (ten years ago) link
he bounced back from that pretty fast, indicates questionable personality

The use of the "Della sua pace" aria from Don Giovanni was seriously badass, and one of the only uses of opera in pop culture I've seen that actually pays attention to the libretto. Respect.

Raul Esparza did excellent work yet again as Chilton in tonight's episode. He brings just the perfect amount of "camp" to the character. I continue to get not people's qualms about him. That said, I do find him to be incredibly hot so maybe that's blinding me to any weaknesses.

personal weird theory: chilton is like the non-comedic realization of Jim Rash's Dean character in Community
anyhoo, back from crazytown:
this Chilton is better than the movie version, maybe even better than the book ever suggested, all those subtle layers of cowardice greed ambition curiosity, he's SO good, i love watching him

Beverlyyyyyy :( :( :(
the scenes with Will recovering his memories, with the strobe lights and Hannibal-melty face, were some deeply unsettling shit. Also, when Hannibal turned his head to address Will. Mads Mikkelsen can be really terrifying just making eye contact.

should we poll how he will cook beverly y/n
when that Fuller interview was linked above and "spoilers" were mentioned I was all "oh come on the gun doesn't shoot up through the dining room floor if she survived it's obvious no spoilers here lol" but then yeah there are proper fucking spoilers which would make that poll unfair.
― Insane Prince of False Binaries (Gukbe), Sunday, 23 March 2014 12:30 (ten years ago) link
Yeah, the gun shooting up through the floor really answered what happened. But in a subtle way. This show is in some ways pretty subtle, I've been trying to get some people into it, and they complain about Hannibal not doing anything in the first episodes, and I'm like 'wait, he killed dozens of people in the background?' but they don't really catch it.
