i think this one, besides a few tracks here and there, is godawful boring and made me go back and appreciate geogaddi even more. i never really found any of their stuff that eerie or mysterious to begin with, but i thought music has the right.. was cheeseball esp. considering all the lame hype surrounding it, and all the idmers waxing poetic, etc..

Cd sounds nice on one listen, though it does sound like boards have made their "moon safari".
You won't escape this album over the next 2 years.....it'll be piped everywhere.....

i like Chromakey Dreamcoat a lot, the rest of the album seems like a grower maybe, haven't heard enough yet. i think each record they do, the drums get less intrusive (the one thing i always liked least about boc were the clumpy and too foregrounded drums).

it is funny, how a new album by a band, can make a previously "mixed response" type album seem better than it did before, with so many (self included) picking out the many good parts of geogaddi (agreed, particularly, about the leslie nielsen sample)

heh, "splashing pools of mercury" must be one of the most commonly recurrning reynolds (and reynolds copyists?) evocative sound desciption phrases.

The Japanese version of TCH is due out October 12th, a full five days before the UK and US versions. I rather like it on first listen! Certainly tones down the unsettling elements, which I guess is dissapointing for hardcore BOC fans.

Bought it the other day and I like it. I can see where the chill out/moon safari/sell-out cries come from but frankly this is exactly the type of stuff I'd like to hear on a sunny October afternoon at the sea.

Actually the whole album's opening up now. I get the feeling this happens every time I get a new BoC, it needs a few plays before you hit the moment when it makes utter sense and eats up the whole universe.

well said. it definitely eats up my whole collection. one of those albums which after each listen cries for the next one and does not allow any other cd to be played on my stereo. i wonder how many times it will spin before i can put on something else. right now it is the 7th time in four days, i think.
