last night was fun. I can't believe how small room 1 is though. Is fabric always that packed? Soulwax nite version works so well.

jellybean (jellybean), Saturday, 10 September 2005 13:04 (eighteen years ago) link

soulwax nite version are incredible! I didn't even know they existed, and wow. It was a bit more crowded than fabric - well, fabric sat - usually is, I though, usually there is at least some minimal room in which to dance.

spontine (cis), Saturday, 10 September 2005 17:01 (eighteen years ago) link

Explain Soulwax Nite Version to me.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Saturday, 10 September 2005 17:20 (eighteen years ago) link

as far as I know it involves LIVE ELECTROHOUSE REMIXES or something equally insane, all I know is it is heaven to dance to.

spontine (cis), Saturday, 10 September 2005 18:00 (eighteen years ago) link

It's basically what they did to NY Excuse repeated for the whole of the last album. Lots of the good vocal/instrumental bits put to house beats and remixed all together.

Just a shame I couldn't see much, with all those tall blokes standing in front of me.

Simian Mobile Disco were a lot more dancier than I expected too.

jellybean (jellybean), Saturday, 10 September 2005 18:12 (eighteen years ago) link

oh and room 3 had loads of room to dance in early(ish) on.

jellybean (jellybean), Saturday, 10 September 2005 18:12 (eighteen years ago) link

tongiht in london:

:((((

when is fabric birthday?!?!?!?!

ambrose (ambrose), Saturday, 10 September 2005 18:52 (eighteen years ago) link

Sat 22nd October.

Tempting.

I can't decide whether to try and go over for the Birthday (MANDY and Booka Shade!) or Michael Mayer (Michael Mayer!).

It's like the DJs I've never seen and really want to versus the one I know is brilliant.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 10 September 2005 21:01 (eighteen years ago) link

do the birthday one, ronan. it goes on til 10am! and luciano will surely be amazing, too.

soulwax nite versions is on slsk now, btw.

trying not to feel ABSOLUTELY GUTTED about missing Luciano last night

Yeah, well, on the bat walk, we got to play with BAT DETECTORS and discovered that bats make hyper-sonic noises that sound like Autechre! I'd dance to that!

Luminiferous Aether (kate), Sunday, 11 September 2005 12:35 (eighteen years ago) link

why did youmiss it adam?

i saw jo jo whatsername from nag nag nag play electrohouse and mike dred playing v fast acid (UI stuff) in different rooms at the same time. v strange line up

ambrose (ambrose), Sunday, 11 September 2005 14:04 (eighteen years ago) link

I didn't realize he was playing until very late last night

Adam in Edgware (nordicskilla), Sunday, 11 September 2005 14:46 (eighteen years ago) link

Ricky T = FOOL for skipping Fabric even when spare guestlist became available! AMAZING AMAZING NIGHT.

Fabric was more rammed than I have ever ever seen it before and half the people downstairs seemed to be wide-eyed indie kids there for the first time and petrified of all the people asking them for pills. I can't imagine how little room there would have been in the main room, even the balcony was fairly packed!

I want to know who was playing in room 2 (? - the one where Vitalic wasn't) last, we went there after 2manydjs got too indie and it was insanely banging and fucked with my head a bit.

Photos might emerge at some point...

The Lex (The Lex), Sunday, 11 September 2005 19:20 (eighteen years ago) link

I know that no one else dance to shoegazing but me, but I'll be dancing at this:

Get ready to party like it’s 1991 to classic
shoegazing sounds from the Velvets to the Valentines
to Ulrich Schnauss as the SONIC CATHEDRAL opens its
doors for worship on JOHN PEEL DAY, Thursday October
13. Appropriately, there’s a very rare live outing for
JIM REID, former frontman of Peel favourites The Jesus
And Mary Chain, plus one of the first UK appearances
from Australia’s THE MORNING AFTER GIRLS. On the decks
are THE TELESCOPES, who have promised some Peel
treats, and some very special SURPRISE GUESTS.

SONIC CATHEDRAL
THE NIGHT THAT CELEBRATES ITSELF

THURSDAY OCTOBER 13
THE LEGION
348 OLD STREET
LONDON EC1

THE MORNING AFTER GIRLS (live)

Fabric was more rammed than I have ever ever seen it before

surely this means it was horrible!

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Monday, 12 September 2005 09:23 (eighteen years ago) link

I'm sure it was horrible downstairs! I only ventured down there once.

marianna lcl (marianna lcl), Tuesday, 13 September 2005 21:10 (eighteen years ago) link

Mark Ronson's at Notting Hill Arts Club tomorrow night and I may hit it up.

Drowning Man (Barima), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 08:07 (eighteen years ago) link

three weeks pass...
is anyone up for mandy/booka shade and co?

I am half thinking of booking a flight over.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 19:24 (eighteen years ago) link

I am up for this, definitely.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 19:36 (eighteen years ago) link

i have a ticket already.

toby (tsg20), Thursday, 6 October 2005 07:45 (eighteen years ago) link

incidentally if i'm reading the ticket correctly it means i don't have to turn up until close to 1, which could be a good thing with it going on until 10am.

toby (tsg20), Thursday, 6 October 2005 07:46 (eighteen years ago) link

I'm thinking of going to this.

marianna lcl (marianna lcl), Saturday, 8 October 2005 18:37 (eighteen years ago) link

same. 16 pound on the train...

ambrose (ambrose), Tuesday, 11 October 2005 08:05 (eighteen years ago) link

everyone should come! have you all noticed that prins thomas is now on the bill, too? also green velvet + lasers might well be the best thing ever, i suspect.

is anyone else up for magda/hawtin/villalobos on nov 19th? if not then i may have to ysi the hawtin/villalobos essential mix, as i find it hard to believe that anyone who's heard that wouldn't want to come along...

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 11 October 2005 08:56 (eighteen years ago) link

yes, send me the mix!

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Tuesday, 11 October 2005 09:09 (eighteen years ago) link

i just need to chop out the dj sneak bit - is there some neat freeware prog to do this? i used to have one...

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 11 October 2005 09:18 (eighteen years ago) link

I have to decide in the next day or two, I guess.

I want to come for definite, and can get the time off, and I'm mostly feeling better, but not 100 percent and was kind of thinking that it might be wise to wait until I am really feeling absolutely better before going out for a long night like it will be.

But I might change my mind, and I could be feeling better by next Friday and then regret my initial decision!

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 11 October 2005 10:10 (eighteen years ago) link

hmm. there is a house party the same night which will be better for finances. i shouldn't go to this, but i think i might...

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 11 October 2005 10:25 (eighteen years ago) link

toby how come you have bought tickets? is it necessary do you think? or is it just a queue skipping thing? going through ticketweb seems to put another fiver on top, which is a bit steep for me.

ambrose (ambrose), Tuesday, 11 October 2005 20:01 (eighteen years ago) link

Hawtin is VERY tempting, although I might be in Canada then.

Konrad Black was pretty good at Fabric. I have clashing commitments that night tho.

RickyT (RickyT), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 11:13 (eighteen years ago) link

toby how come you have bought tickets? is it necessary do you think? or is it just a queue skipping thing? going through ticketweb seems to put another fiver on top, which is a bit steep for me.

yeah, it did stick an extra 4 quid or so on, which was pretty annoying. not sure if you get to queue-jump, but the ticket claims guaranteed entry if you turn up by one, and i like the idea of being able to show up at half 12 rather than queue at 11, esp as the late end means i'd rather not start until 1, anyway. also it was a way of making myself go, rather than wimp out at the last minute.

toby (tsg20), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 11:38 (eighteen years ago) link

i want to go to this (the 22nd) a lot, unfortunately my friends are being lame. last time i went to fabric by myself i had a great time, though! so i might do that again.

pete b. (pete b.), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 11:40 (eighteen years ago) link

ok! who's doing this insane birthday night then?

the house party i was going to go to looks like it might be a bit shit, so i think i might concentrate my efforts on fabricking.

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 18 October 2005 15:44 (eighteen years ago) link

I won't be over, this time! I just want to wait until I'm feeling better 100 percent before going away somewhere and trying to enjoy myself. Next big gig I will try and see though, maybe even something in November or December.

PS:Ricky was Konrad Black DJing or live?

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 18 October 2005 15:55 (eighteen years ago) link

i'm going! i think cis and ricky are, too, or at least they said they were...

konrad black was djing, ronan. you should come to magda/richie/ricardo at fabric on nov 19th.

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 18 October 2005 16:01 (eighteen years ago) link

I love Konrad Black's singles, both of them.

It's a shame about this weekend I really want to see M.A.N.D.Y. I will definitely think about Magda/Richie/Ricardo though. Just didn't want to pay for a flight and make the effort of going over while I'm still not really feeling the best.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 18 October 2005 16:24 (eighteen years ago) link

it is 50-50 if i will be able to make this. i am hoping, however, that a new consignment is on its way, the pill drought must end soon

terry lennox. (gareth), Tuesday, 18 October 2005 16:32 (eighteen years ago) link

have you been listening to 'Finisterre'?

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Tuesday, 18 October 2005 16:36 (eighteen years ago) link

ok im in. am making my plans now.

going to jan jelinek and raumschmiere the night before, at cargo. gonna leave before raumschmiere tho.

G, come to fabric!
