Taco Bell told NRN that it expects young Millennials, its primary customer demographic, will embrace the mobile ordering platform. NRN claims that 74 percent of consumers aged 18 to 34 said they would order takeout/delivery on a mobile device, if it were available.

According to Jenkins, Taco Bell's mobile lead, "Mobile is the biggest shift in QSR since the drive thru" and "if you can get 10 million people to download your app, you’re putting a portal to Taco Bell in 10 million pockets."

in all the food-industrial-complex innovations showcased in this thread i think we may be overlooking ~the human factor~, what if we could train people in this technique on a massive scale, maybe on a mooc of some sort, think of the efficiencies to be obtained

i think it'd be too difficult to eat. the sausages will roll around. it's not a good situation.

I ordered one

Nice pretzel bun - definitely a food laboratory trend. I remember fondly the Wendy's pretzel bacon cheeseburger I had a few months ago - the bun was one of the best parts of the burger imo.

Here you can see the sausages - a big disappointment compared to the ad

They're literally just breakfast links on two breakfast sausage patties (though they claim to be 'beef'), doused in sweet mustard (sandwich would have been improved by some sharper brassica)

The pretzel bun is also a bit behind the Wendy's iteration - not enough texture

I'd scarf the Chinese New Year ham-on-sausage burger from upthread over this any day

I sort of knew this was a fool's burger when I saw the ad

Just too crazy to be real

Also the Chinese name/tagline is 不素之霸 which roughly translates to "The lord/tyrant of being not-vegetarian"

Candy bowl lady at my job had Cherry M&M's today. They were kinda almost good - like a rough approximation of actual chocolate cherries.

I remember fondly the Wendy's pretzel bacon cheeseburger I had a few months ago - the bun was one of the best parts of the burger imo.

back when i briefly drove a cab i took a bouncer, one of the largest men i've ever seen in my life, through the wendy's drive through. he ordered ten of these, along with six large orders of fries, and remarked on their quality.

"Don't worry, five are for breakfast tomorrow." he said, unprompted.

Clay, Saturday, 22 February 2014 03:47 (ten years ago) link

I actually think the real version looks better. It makes more sense now that I know they're breakfast sausages. Would eat.

Amazing story Clay

5 burger to 3 frybox ratio seems out of whack. As a fry man I'd go for a 1 burger to 2 frybox ratio myself

, Saturday, 22 February 2014 03:50 (ten years ago) link

I'd have an infinity ratio when it comes to Wendy's fries.

i kept meaning to start a 77 thread for cab driving stories but i only ended up doing it like september and half of october before i got a better job where the chances of getting stabbed were significantly lower. (it's at a law office so the likelihood is probably not 0% but much closer than driving weirdos around a weird city.)

Clay, Saturday, 22 February 2014 03:56 (ten years ago) link

i am ok with this taco bell invention in theory. but i'd prefer that they use their lab time to invent new ways of combining ground beef, nacho cheese, and frito-lay products.
