Liking it a lot so far. I loved the debut too but this one really has the courage of its convictions. Good also that Timbaland didn't feel the need to double track the vocals this time out.
oh and:TS: "Jimmy Mathis" v "Listen to the bass of get stupid fresh part 2"?my money's on bubba.

the Daily Telegraph, of all people, made it LP of the week last weekend. Their Saturday review section looks pretty good actually. Better than the bleedin' G******* anyways

'She Tried' is probably the first ever credible rap country ballad.
I love this record! Bubba is a fine rapper and Timba is just way ahead everyone else, including the bleedin' Neptunes. Much love!

Also, maybe I'm misguided but 'Jimmy Mathis' and 'Comin' Round' would make great UK singles, maybe even decent charting ones.

From LAST year's country thread (and I think from hip-hop thread last year too):
So far, I'm liking the new album, but I'm also pretty disappointed by it; there doesn't seem to be any country-oriented stuff, which sucks, but I guess Bubba has to move on. So far my favorite track is "Wonderful," but that could change. The Pablo track's good, too. -- xhuxk (xedd...), October 24th, 2005.
Actually i think its that country-motif stuff that was painting him into a corner -- deej.. (clublonel...), October 24th, 2005.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe, but that doesn't mean it wasn't his best stuff. (Plus, I'm not sure *why* it would paint him into a corner. There's as much possibility in incorporating country as in *not* incorporating country. And there's definitely more possibility in incorporating both country *and* non-country. Getting rid of it makes his horizons *less* wide, not more.) (That goes for David Banner too, by the way.) -- xhuxk (xedd...), October 24th, 2005.
-- xhuxk (xedd...), October 25th, 2005.
Also, no Timbaland, which deej also seemed to think takes Bubba out of a corner, though I don't see why that would be true either, given Timbos perpetual restlessness. Maybe those who think the restlessness is un-Bubbalicious would expect him to shine without it, but paint'n'corner seems to be the wrong metaphor.
-- Frank Kogan (edcasua...), October 25th, 2005.
------Actually, I don't think Frank had heard the new album then, though. And the version I was listening to last October was a "rough mix," and since then, two ignorable songs from the original version have been replaced by two different equally ignorable songs on the new one. I still want to think the album's a keeper, but maybe that's just wishful thinking. Whether it's a keeper or not, it's by far the worst and most marginal album Bubba's made.
