Placebo are a British band. Brian Molko is ever so slightly american, but they made their bones in britain, and they are british citizens.

Why has nobody mentioned The Grateful Dead?
Thats like a list of great English bands without Led Zeppelin

Some people have a very wide definition of America. ;)

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Sunday, 9 November 2003 00:52 (fifteen years ago) Permalink

What Geir, why no Elvis in you list?

A Nairn (moretap), Sunday, 9 November 2003 01:23 (fifteen years ago) Permalink

Elvis is extremely overrated. And there wasn't a lot of great music before The Beatles at all. Most of the best American music hails either from the Californian golden age (Beach Boys, Turtles, Mamas & The Papas), from powerpop or from the current wave of underground psychedelic pop
