I knocked on the door at 3:30 AM and politely asked them to turn it down, which they did...slightly. I know they were smashed and your volume judgement tends goes out the window, but that's not much comfort when you're tossing and turning at 5 AM. We've always tried to be super quiet if we come back late from a club, and that's always at weekends and not on a work night. (we're all 9-5 Mon-Fri types)
So - I just loved facing my last day of work on two hours of sleep. Not all of us have finished for the chrismas break...
But hey, they didn't get a lie in. My boyfriend buzzed their intercom on the way out to work, and I played a nice selection of party hip hop (Edan, Mos Def) before I left. I heard signs of life as I was leaving, ha!

hearing your neighbours peeing - classic/dud? I can't decide, there's a sense of comfort to it but there is also a sense of TMI.

also how do i tell my other neighbor that his girlfriend is way too loud when they are having sex because it wakes me up at night. it's not like, normal sex noises (which i really don't care about) it's high pitched and loud and unnecessary, just for effect or something. aughchhh
― lil yawne (harbl), Monday, 13 October 2008 10:36 (ten years ago) Permalink
i used to be able to hear my stinky old neighbour pissing and it truly repulsed me more than anything else about inhabiting a block of flats, even more than his unbearably loud sex noises with equally noisy lady-friends. And that's saying something. He's moved out now though (yay) and i can't hear anything my new neighbour does.

so a small group of kids has taken to throwing parties randomly in the house next to me. it's currently in the final stages of being renovated so, i'm assuming they're just sneaking in around midnight or so, setting up and cranking their music until 4am.
the first time was a friday night and i didn't get too bent out of shape about it. they were at it again last night starting from about 1am and i was none too impressed. when i called the cops they mentioned there'd already been a bunch of complaints, yet no cops ever bothered showing up.
i managed to pass out on my couch (where it's quieter) around 3:30-45 or so. but i'm trying to formulate a game plan for what to do next time this happens.

each time there's been a car parked out front that belongs to someone in there - i assume whoever brings the system. i'm thinking something in between leaving a note and smashing in the windows might get the point across they are not welcome!
xpost... can't sleep with those things in. besides - the walls were literally shaking at one point last night!
― The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Wednesday, 10 December 2008 20:19 (ten years ago) Permalink
Why dont you find out who owns/is renovating the building and tell them shitty little squatter techno brats are partying in their house every night? Cops might be complacent but there's nothin more righteous than a yuppie property owner with paranoia about land values.
― Trayce, Wednesday, 10 December 2008 20:37 (ten years ago) Permalink
it's happened twice in the last two weeks - so it's not like i can guarantee they'll be there doing their thing on any given day. and i'm assuming the workers must have figured out what's happening - or that something is happening.
i think maybe if they do it on a weekend again and i'm sitting around doing sfa i might just join them (the music was actually REM and Bloc Party and that sort of thing - no techno!), and possibly slash dude's tires on my way in.

I have a good relationship with my neighbours. I don't complain about his scary aggressive demented screaming which may involve domestic violence, and he doesn't complain about us playing techno at any time of day/night as loud as we want.
The neighbour above I've got to know and he has my number so I said if it's ever too loud just text me. He plays music quite loudly in the mornings which could be annoying but it doesn't really bother me.
― Local Garda, Sunday, 5 July 2009 11:51 (nine years ago) Permalink

we live next door to frat bros, they love to rage on the verandah which is next to our bedroom window until 3:30 in the morning on weekends
they are loud, esp. when they are trying to impress their ladyfriends
at first we thought it was kind of hot in a crass, porn sort of way, but now it's just annoying
but we can't complain about noise because we have a studio in our basement and we're always making music/weird sounds at odd hours ourselves
― the tune is space, Monday, 20 September 2010 01:24 (eight years ago) Permalink

so:
if dude's partners already left him, in a house he cant afford on his own
and
landlord has this morning promised to 'deal with him' after cops were called last night (and may yet be again tonight)
then
i cant have too much more of this to put up with, right?

― Les centimètres énigmatiques (snoball), Sunday, 24 October 2010 23:25 (eight years ago) Permalink
landlord will have to reduce rent by prob 25% to keep him there, if i reckon right.
cpurse, if i reckon right about the neighbour in question, he supplements the dole by dealing out of the house so prob can afford to pay the extra himself. gah.
i can deal with hium through work, but that would be slow and messy tbh.

At best losing your noisy neighbour is going to be a bit drawn out. At worst it's going to be the trigger that starts off a whole new level of crazy.

The moment when the noise nuisance neighbor leaves certainly is a happy one. I remember when we were walking up the street and saw the "to let" sign outside the house next door like it was yesterday. We were so fucking happy.

this cunt's in his last few days of notice, he's not been around this week (i know cos his landlord told me the house was left unheated this past week and the entire heating/pipe system is completely fucked.
He turned up about an hour, and as soon as he was in the door he had the beats up to max, wall-shaking stuff. We said we'd go next door 'for a word', but met him and his mates going out the door.
So three of us just chased him and a carload of his mates up the road. Kinda hoping he comes back tonight while the lads are all home. We'll have it quiet man style out on the lawn.
