I've been working remotely as a contractor for the Accounts Unavoidable department since my unfortunate termination. They still allow me to moonlight occasionally in Password Recovery and have graciously allowed me to retain my previously accrued Power Points.

Can someone tell me what this "Facebook Authenticator" is? I can't get into my account until I activate this...which of the three options work without a cell phone?

I couldn't figure out how to do it without a phone number, so I just set up a Google Voice number through a dummy email and did it through that.

I don't know how to do that...This is so annoying. Not that getting off there wouldn't be a good thing in the long run, but short-term, not good at all.

I idiotically added an extra email account to my fb about a decade ago and let the email expire. last week someone signed up to mail.com with the same username, logged into my account, posted sth so awful that my account was blocked within 10 minutes, and now I think I'm locked out forever, it says they will review it but fuck knows what it was, so no chance there.

The thing I really don't understand is that why I am getting this while none of the three friends I've contacted have even heard about it? I'm finding online articles about it, so it is real, but I don't understand why everyone wouldn't get the same notice.

I don't mind losing my fb account, except messenger was my only contact with friends around the world, guess I can open a new account and find them again. also guess I've lost access to my podcast's fb page now, not that it was ever of any use.

i have seen it, when logging on the first time on a new device recently (assuming it's the 2fa thing they do now - i just used google authenticate on my phone).

I thought I got it because I was an admin for a few of my company's publication pages. My "profile has a large audience!" Haha, yeah, ok.

Again, I don't have a cell phone and don't want one. I've used two-step verification before where they send a code to my e-mail address, or I identify recent comments, but they're not an option right now. I can choose "Authentication app," "Text message," or "Security key." None of them work on a desktop, or I'm not doing the right things.

I've seen the thing about having a large audience too, which my page most definitely does not. I've sent two e-mails this morning, but I know that getting a response is like playing the lottery.

Again, there are ways to get a phone number without having a cellphone. Assuming that it'd be the same for Canada as it is in the U.S. since we're all on the NANP. Just gotta ask yourself how badly you want to log into Facebook.

It is, unfortunately, important to me. There are a number of people I only have contact with via Facebook (the idea of switching our contact over to e-mail is not workable for a variety of reasons). There are a couple of things I need to post about in the coming months, and I need Facebook for that.

By "get a phone number," I'm not sure what you mean. I have a land line, of course, but I tried that for the activation process and it didn't work. Do you mean ways to get a cell-phone number without actually having one? Even if that's possible, how would I then retrieve the text message?

Sorry if I'm coming across as edgy. I'm just stumped. Photobucket's been contacting me about locked photos for two years--there, I don't give a fuck. This is different.
