After burning way too many health packs last night, I decided to stop playing risky at all in the Thor tournament. Every match, I use the +1 to all AP stockpile boost, and an extra damage boost. Within 5 turns I can run my Iron Man 40 Recharge v2 (3 Red + Blue AP for each countdown tile) -> Modern Storm Blue Stun power (Stuns target for 4 turns, ~1200 dmg to enemy team) -> Clean up with Thor's Red and Yellow strikes. Easy peasy.

Ugh hate fighting against Daken (my entire roster is under level 15), now I have to play the Waiting Game Hungry Hungry Hippos.

breaking 200 in the hunt events is really hard. luckily i just have to break 400 to win the heroic token, which is all i really care about.

What's the strategy for selling/keeping covers when your roster is maxed out? I have a 2-star Dark Hawkeye who's hard to level up because I can't find any covers for him, and I have a Juggernaut cover I'm waiting to recruit.

i was at #1 on thor tourney while i was playing ten minutes ago, down to my final health token, ahead by 60 points. watched a bit of the jags/saints. Came back to find I am #6 and down by 55. I think i need to hang back and do a final push in the last half hour of this. very frustrating. i think the issue is that the higher up on the rankings you are, the more points you're worth and the more you lose when you get downed in pvp

argh, been playing for an hour and this is maddening. from #1 to #12 like a goddamn yo yo. And I'm winning every match!

lee: grind for hero points until you can buy more slots! its worth it to try to hang onto everyone i think. or that's just the obsessive in me...

new fun combo -- wolvie + rag. he powers up the strike tiles, and rag's red ability keeps feeding him green. i bet daken rag would be lotsa fun too (the advantage of wolvie is if you don't have another use for the green, then his strike tiles are way stronger, and you can build up a bit of green and each successive attack gets stronger).

(forks: some good advice i saw is to hang back a bit before you jump into a tourney because then you end up against more casual players -- there's v. little forward action in my competition bracket at all. also note that who you're matched against seems determined by your win/loss rate, etc. but who you're bracketed against is different, and seems just determined by when you first compete in the event)

this same advice doesn't seem as useful in hunt, where holding back just seemed to give me less capacity to catch up with other players, since its all about hitting the repeating missions every time they regenerate points.

(also argh this game ate my life)

fought my way up to #2 in the final minutes, underestimated my opponent and went in with a too-low health thor, no more first aid, okay i'm at #2 at least with three minutes
currently at #7 with a minute on the clock. goddammit.

Working on leveling up daken to max, any recommendations of characters that might be worth trying to level higher if i have the covers already? does wolverine start getting good around lv 30? venom? any of the hawkeyes?

i guess i'm missing, jim lee magneto, invisible woman, punisher, wolverine x force and DEVIL DINOSAUR (cmon they gotta make him available at the end of this tourney) and i have four open slots and 75 coins so i should be able to keep a full roster indefinitely if i keep grinding.

is it because i'm an addict that having enough room for new covers has never been an issue? i would highly recommend NEVER spending coins on anything but new cover slots.

Classic Hawkeye is worth leveling up a teensy bit just because he's so good for those Hammer missions with his tile destroy abilities

they've been more generous with the coins lately - until the last week I was having a really hard time keeping pace

I levelled modern Hawkeye to 41 and in The Hunt his red ability hits all enemy combatants for something like 2390+K

Don't use him (or Cap) against Yelena though, she will gank your countdown tiles

i can now take my doom all the way to 77 -- not sure if its worth investing in him much tho.
other candidates are grey bw, cap (mainly just use him as a b-team tank), jug, or iron 40.

other than that i guess i'll keep working on daken and wolvie.

if i come out of this next tourney with some spideys maybe he'd step up?

modern hawkeye in hunt is great, yeah. also really just pays off to use him with critical tiles where he hits for huge damage.

once his red and blue are fully leveled they only countdown two and their odds of hitting are almost tolerable.

they do great of course once you clear the main enemy and are just against goons that don't move tiles.

and lol yeah yelena destroyed me the one time i tried to use countdowns with her.

Doom looks to me like a good investment as a third stringer.
i definitely want to level up spidey; that looks like a big time play extender
How does invisible woman play?

well just green ability alone sux + she only has 1020 health at that level. i only use her when forced to by hunt missions.

her yellow looks sorta useless too.

i can imagine she'd be solid against special tiles if i had her ability to lock specified tiles, but as is she's not useful for anything yet.

i got invisible woman with the green ability too. same problem Spider-Man's purple ability used to have - you need the bubble making power to not make that power useless

wanna put in a strong recommendation for levelling up yr juggernaut
that green power takes two matches and can be a lifesaver. he's a good alternate option for storm.

kinda curious about leveling strategies too. I've been focusing on leveling up my intro characters and then beefing up individuals for specific tourneys as necessary but there's a lot of other options... feeling like it's a bad idea to try to broadly level everyone as there's just not enough iso to make that work unless you are gonna pay for it. most of these characters don't really show what they can do until you get them heavily levelled. Obviously with the 2/3/4 star guys that's dependent on covers but some of the early characters seem universally ignored; you never see anyone playing a yelena or a venom in pvp.
just started moonstone in the baddie tournament and she seems utterly pointless at low level but may be a monster when properly leveled...

i look at the level cap. i know that lvl 85 cap will be a monster someday. most of the 1* chars cap out at 40, except for notably Storm and Iron Man 35. so it doesn't feel like worth investing in most of those guys. juggernaut i'm tempting just because of his HP soak. but who knows, maybe Lvl 40 Venom has enough HP to make him worth while too

at least at 2* you can go up to lvl 85 with cards maxed out. i'm maxing out any character 3* and above to the best that I can. only maxed out Thor at the 2* lvl, and almost done w/Classic Storm (I think I'm around 77-ish)

you're 100% right on not broadly pumping everyone, imo, though this is what I did when I started out, so I have a lot of lvl 15-25 characters hangin' around, semi-useful, but i feel like i would've been better off focusing on a few

btw this Dark Avengers tourney pretty much sucks for me, my best available char is a lvl 28 Venom. i'll just focus on The Hunt

It sucks but it's gonna suck for most everyone; I got a me vs lv1 Venom only last night

I am enjoying the BIG tournament but then again I have a 25-30ish moonstone, 50ish daken and 15 ragnarok (puled last night from a standard pull, stooooked -- just wish it wasn't green). good enough t beat people lvl 1 yelenas and bullseyes anyway.

The only Dark Avenger I have on my phone team is a lvl 27 Daken

I'm currently ranked #49 in the Bad Is Good tournament; if no one on the opposing team is over lvl 20, I can solo them and usually end up with full health

This character is ridiculously OP in some ways.

I'm thinking that I should maybe start over because I'm still at a sufficiently low level and am pretty sure I spent some Hero Points on things other than roster slots.

i wouldn't worry about it; they give out those coins with solid regularity. any of the 1 and 2 star guys aren't hard to find in game within the story missions so if you temporarily lose, say, black widow or hawkeye or either storm or juggernaut or yelena or venom, they're easy to get again when you have the space later.

I've spent about 300 hero points on covers, and one of those tries paid off big time (wolvie x force) so

I'm not hoarding characters so I don't care so much about roster spots.

playing bad tourney is a pain with two dakens; each match takes more than twice as long and is rigorously boring. hard to find pvp players who aren't using him.

I just started playing this and my understanding is pretty weak. The coins in-game are the freemium bit of it but you still earn them occasionally and need them to level up (unless you get another cover), the purple crystals let you power up within a level, and apparently you only get a certain number of roster slots?

The only really confusing bit so far has been where I've played a level a couple times and obviously defeated every enemy, had no losses, and there's still not a checkmark on that location. Is there a list of goals for every level somewhere so that I can "complete" them?

click on the missions, they will usually say something like "1/4 rewards" or something like that with a flashing icon in the lower right corner showing which of the objective rewards you've gotten

also don't use coins to level, use them to buy roster spots

right. and you don't need to get all the rewards for the Prologue missions, just beating it once is enough to unlock the next set of levels. but you'll eventually want to go back and grab those rewards, ya know, because OCD.

I am really shocked by how much of a bad-ass modern Hawkeye is in The Hunt

if he has Avoid and Blast Arrow, you can basically use him to destroy all three characters at once

hm. i'm at 5/4/3; maybe i need to level him higher

i have a purple cover but was holding out for the fifth red attack... am i doing it backward?

it's hard to want to use any red attack but thor's when he gets 2k damage from two red matches
