cream cheese frosting generally is so much better than butter frosting

yeah, but especially on red velvet. imo "cream cheese frosting" is an essential element to red velvet and it ceases to be a real red velvet cake without it

The key is the glutinous rice flour, it makes it nice and chewy

乒乓, Saturday, 30 November 2013 19:36 (ten years ago) link

You guys know that for cheap red velvet cake they just die the insides of the cake with hair dye. Fucked up

I will agree that office cake is disgusting nine times out of ten. preferable to pint sized office cupcakes tho.

Glutinous rice flour is used to make this Chinese cake which is really good. It's more or less the same ingredient as in Korean tteok and Japanese mochi and stuff.

Fucked up and weird how this same ingredient is used in both sweet and savory dishes.

乒乓, Saturday, 30 November 2013 19:41 (ten years ago) link

Imagine if they made a sheet cake with glutinous rice flour. You could probably kill someone with it. Or it'd probably get stuck in your digestive tract. Dangerous!!

omg those noodle type units in the middle there are prob the most filling food on earth so heavy

lag∞n, Saturday, 30 November 2013 19:42 (ten years ago) link

Yah man. If you order Guinness to have with it you may not live to see the sun rise tomorrow.

乒乓, Saturday, 30 November 2013 19:43 (ten years ago) link

the thing about sweets is the more bored you are the lower your standards become, so at the office it's pretty much anything goes. A dude brought in greying mallomars and I still ate like five of them.

or you can choose not to work in a fucking office, live yr fucking life instead of acting like the gods colluded to trap you in some privileged dull existence where the depths of yr despair encompass cake and interacting w/ other ppl.

Agree. Instead of all that you can just post to ILX

乒乓, Saturday, 30 November 2013 20:01 (ten years ago) link

office cake is def repulsive for the most part but I'll still eat in. but I usually stick with the cake because the frosting on those cakes is the worst part. What kind of sick world is this?

Office cake is only the tip of the iceberg of despair.

ha that reminds me actually a friend of mine recently made a cake for someone elses bday and it was this enormous unfathomably heavy thick glittery multi tiered thing with a barbie stuck in the top he constructed whil-st trashed... all he'd blearily murmur about it was "don't eat it. just don't". but then when he unveiled it in public an incessant stream of passers by were all like wow outrageous so trashy i love it do u have a card
