Rewatching Kojak now and what stands out most conspicuously is Kojak's sartorial excess. I've counted at least 16 different suits he wears during Season 2 alone, many of them three-piece, plus at least three mix-and-match combos. Kojak is a police lieutenant during NYC's bankrupt period of the mid-'70s.

In addition to calling people "baby" he calls people he works with "baldy," "fatso," and "jellybean."

One of Kojak's unique qualities is being ethnically aware, yet the episode "King of the Gypsies" starring Zohra Lampert is full of anti-gypsy stereotyping. Zohra Lampert nevertheless won an Emmy for her performance in it.
