Dern is fun for a while but he's Method ham, even in The King of Marvin Gardens and Family Plot.

well yeah, Wise Blood and deadwood are where BD has most impressed me. Frankly I have a hard time remebering him in much else besides Cuckoo's Nest.

Dern is hilarious in Smile.

It's out, but the edition is kinda crappy (non-anamorphic 4:3 letterbox widescreen). OTOH, it's cheap, you can zoom in on a widescreen monitor, and it's still a great film.

Another good, forgotten Dern: Diggstown w/James Woods & Louis Gossett Jr. (and Oliver Platt and Heather Graham!)

aka Midnight Sting. also directed by michael ritchie. we shld do a ritchie poll some day.

saw Silent Running for the first time in eons last night. Even when Bruce is the Last Environmentalist, he has to kill the other three space workers on his ship.
