ITT 1p3 improves on Zagat's "50 sandwiches, 50 states" list

zagat's list, while otm on some things, doesn't sit right with me for a number of reasons. i feel like, as ILX's sandwich heads, we can improve on it. please state what state you are from (or a state you have spent a lot of time in) and make a case for what sandwich you think best represents it, or just name the best regional sandwich. or w/e.

just to get this out of the way, i do agree that louisiana's sandwich should be the muffaletta.

The Primanti Bros Sandwich is great and should have been picked

the muffaletta is the finest expression of the cold cut sandwch BUT louisiana's perfect sandwich is the oyster po boy. there are more bad muffalettas than bad oyster po boys.

I think Mississippi's should be the tomato sandwich, on white bread with mayo and eaten over the sink. Barbecue on a hamburger bun with slaw is all-time, but TN and MO arguably have better claims on it than MS.

Really any Capriotti's sub. I am actually salivating a little thinking of a Cap's turkey sub with sweet peppers, provolone, onions, pickles, and oil and vinegar.

My secondary nomination for Delaware would be the scrapple sandwich.

I don't actually feel qualified to opine on a signature IL sandwich.

You can do these lists with birds or trees, but you can't do state lists on sandwiches, especially for any state that has like more than one town in it.
