I hate it when my cotton, nude colored, generic, ugly-utilitarian bra shows because it is so not attractive. Cute bras, yeah, so what if they show.

So a few weeks ago I mentioned that an ob-gyn delivered bad news to me. So I got a second opinion and did all the testing over. It was sent to the same lab and my results were negative for everything! I'm okay? I think I am, pretty sure, never had any issues, symptoms. This whole ordeal just makes that doctor seem creepier. I am complaining to the medical board because of how inappropriate he was doing the pap, but as for the test results...lab to blame? Human error? I am complaining about how he handled the whole situation as well, being so discouraging of a 2nd opinion and just a real asshole.

Another odd thing was my new doctor received results in a week while creepy doctor didn't call me about my supposedly, super serious test results for three weeks. Same lab!

As much as docs like to blame stuff on front office, the front office is THE LLC (i.e., the doc's) responsibility. He/she is responsible for the front office staff and the management of the practice. Nice try with the "blaming the office staff" (not directed at your case specifically, tera, just in general). That is 100% bullshit because this is YOUR staff and YOU are responsible for their performance. "But I didn't go to med school to learn how to run an office" does not exempt you from having your company run well.

I get soooooo pissed at the blame-the-office-staff thing. You are the CEO and/or partner in your practice, take fucking responsibility and fix it, or accept that YOU are incompetent.

Its got worse in the last 24 hours. I feel ok, but pretty sore and a bit run down. Doc gave me a scrip for some med that will make my blod clot more. I want a 2nd opinion from the pharmacist or something before I take it tho. Wouldnt a clotting med be bad for a smoker?

on a completely different note, i have been looking through my diaries. i started with a particularly bad one because i honestly couldn't remember what had really gone down during that period of my life, and then i went back to the first one, which started in 1986. that's the one where i saw dirty dancing and it affected me lol profoundly. my writing is huge and loopy and childish, but i was definitely going through some...hormonal changes.

then i read that whole thing, which took me from 7th gr through 10th gr. then today i found the one after that, which contained a detailed description of my first make out. i don't know if i feel old or disembodied or confused or what, but reading my goofy childish handwriting and trying to digest that i am that same person is making me feel suuuuuper weird.

i dunno, the whole thing is a bit much. not sure why i am putting myself through this?! i was an exhaustive cataloguer of my life and its details because i knew that no one else would remember all the things i wanted to remember (or care), so i guess what is kinda making my head spin is that in some visible-only-to-me ways, i haven't changed at all.

Oooh sometimes I hate reading old diaries and things. I found some stuff in a drawer cleaning up on the weekend and it was me writing whiny letters to an ex that I never sent. Made me feel gross bringing it all up again.

I have all my old diaries but I don't know why. I don't want to read them and they are taking up valuable space. I can't bring myself to get rid of them, though.

Don't get rid of them!! I kept mine because someone has to care about my life and that person is me! This is why I wrote everything down in the first place iirc.

If you want to store them you can store them safely in my basement and you have my solemn word that I will not go anywhere near them.

So a few weeks ago I was in a public performance art piece that involved almost 500 ppl and all participants were organized around gender justice issues. There were a small number of men but it was woman-centered and the total participants were overwhelmingly women. It took place on a residential block so the local residents had to be cultivated to be on board w it even though they were a tiny minority.

Yesterday we had a follow-up "debriefing" mtg and a disproportionate number of men attended it (which is partly bc it was a cold Sunday night and not enough women came and the location was extremely convenient for the residents but not the participants) and yet the men were BY FAR more likely to have comments, speak up, and hold the floor for longer. With ZERO apparent consciousness that they were not the center of the event OR the follow-up.

So just in general, the fact that men are always trying to post in this thread reminds me of how irritated I was last night, but that's what always happens...somewhere it stops even being surprising.

All the things that irk me about gender injustice, I try to keep just as much in mind about racial justice ish because I live/work in a community of color with women of color and our work, which is around street harassment, involves inspecting Black masculinity and cultural standards. I keep quiet a lot even though that's not my nature at all, AND IT'S NOT THAT HARD. I mean it's work in the sense that I have to be conscious of it and not feel "free" to make other ppl listen to my ideas all the time, but it's not, like, IMPOSSIBLE. Dudes, take note.
