I really, really, REALLY like this whole album but I've been playing "Them Waters" on repeat

This has been one of my most anticipated albums of the year since Ned played "Meltdown" for me and the whole thing just delivers on brooding syncopated awesomeness.

I wouldn't say it's particularly different? Maybe the song arrangements are slightly less dense but both seem to be very of a piece.

five years pass...

Hadn't heard anything by this guy till Spotify threw me a track from last year's Dark Days & Canapes. Took me a while to get round to the album but now it's getting better every listen. 'Brooding syncopated awesomeness' covers it pretty well; the backing tracks are a mix of electronics and 'real' instruments, strings and piano often to the fore, full of menacing or sombre detail. Nothing here would sound out of place on the darkest Massive Attack album.

Just listened to Some Say I So I Say Light, apologies to the Radiohead averse but it feels like Eraser era Thom Yorke to Dark Days' Radiohead. Also neither is going to win points for upbeat cheeriness but maybe Dark Days has a slightly more sardonic edge.
