She does 'Don't Give Up' on the new Peter Gabriel covers CD--haven't heard it yet, but am intrigued

I was just thinking "Hmm, I haven't heard from Feist in YEARS!" so I went on spotify to pull up The Reminder and was greeted by this album, which I had completely forgotten even exists.

i found it forgettable too. seemed like it removed everything i liked about her in the first place -- maybe purposefully, i don't know...

I wonder if I even listened to this in 2011. I probably did at least once, but playing it now is basically a new experience. Doesn't seem too bad atm.

It's an amazing album and by any other artist would be considered a masterpiece, I dunno what people saw in her first two records but this is the one

"Undiscovered First" really is tremendous.

i saw her on this tour and that lineup of her bands and all the arrangments they did were so fucking great. just a well put together show.

First two albums have A++ moments but are patchy overall. Metals is far and away her best album, front to back.

Metals is such a great album

I haven't listened to Metals in a while but I have fond memories of "the Circle married the Line".

I actually don't know many of the songs by name since I just put on the cd and listen all the way through bcz it's an awesome album

Interesting! I played it through once yesterday and thought it was her most indulgently tuneless set of songs, I'll try again though.

idgi, there are so many tunes on this record

sounds very odd to me sonically, but also fresh - look forward to spending more time with it, certainly less straightforward than metals though it has a lot of the same qualities

my exact thought was "fuck, did the promo tab move into a different album by mistake, that happens sometimes"

yeah clearly this merits multiple listens, gets better and better

it's in 6/8 but each verse clips the last beat from the last measure

Reference to mountains and metallurgic percussion might fire Wagnerian association some of us already have with that time signature.

Anyway, don’t know if I ever listened to this whole album before. Good stuff.

Metals is her best album (even if the biggest singles are elsewhere), so this is great to hear. And personally I think Blake Mills elevates just about everything he's involved in. So I'm excited for this. I liked these first three songs though need to spend more time with them.

Metals is her best album

I discovered her with "The Reminder" and am still most partial to that one.

The Reminder is such a beautifully constructed album that still sounds tremendous. Her most immediate hooks and my favorite, too.

I love the reminder too though I think it loses some momentum with the 1-2 of The Park and The Water. I’ve always felt it was a brilliant album undermined by its sequencing.

I totally missed her latest album “Pleasure”. I suppose it isn’t great ?

Pleasure is good but it’s also my least favorite of hers.

I quite enjoyed Pleasure, it's a bit rawer and rougher around the edges than The Reminder or Metals but I like her rockier moments.

I am really enjoying the new one, it's so clear and light, like a veil has been taken off her voice and playing.

It's a very good Feist album. If you like her, you'll enjoy it. If you don't, I can't see this being the one to convince you.

If one skips the opener, Multitudes is about as perfect a Sunday morning record as I can recall.
