The actress who plays Blair was driving me crazy, looking like some hybrid of Rory and Lyla from Friday Night Lights. And then I looked her up and found out she was Debbie, girlfriend of Behrooz "you are not your father's son" on 24, and Carrie Bishop on Veronica Mars. I can finally rest easy now.

i felt like all the characters looked like other people! or like people on the oc! felt dizzy for the first 25 min b/c of it

after watching this i watched the last couple of eps from s6 of degrassi. that show owns

the books are pretty great but this show, ugh. i finally watched it last night. its all wrong. i want to remake it. also, i miss summer roberts :(

Sadly the series # is not included in the titles anywhere, or on the covers, so it's practically impossible to remember which is which. I can't decide whether that's brilliant or not in terms of making readers/buyers check the ENTIRE SERIES every time, but it's a pain in my ass, that's for sure.

The T.V. show, not the place. It debuted on Fox this week. It stars Peter Gallagher's eyebrows and a very attractive actress with very sharp teeth who the IMDB tells me is named Mischa Barton. It was created by McG and the pilot was directed by Doug Liman. It's about a kid from the wrong side of the tracks (and with a v. bad haircut) who ends up being taken in by a rich family from the O.C. Melodrama ensues.

i have band practice twice a week and i don't forget the existence of tv
and i don't even have a tv

I remember TV exists, I just forget that there are shows on that I might want to watch that I can basically just go over to my living room and press a button and there they are. Although sometimes I don't get home until 7:30 or 8, and then I have to make dinner, and so I'd be missing some prime-time comedy, anyway.

(Basically, I only watch TV on DVD, so I'll come back to this thread next summer, when S1 is released.)

i haven't watched it yet but im guessing it will go something like b is mean to s and s is all 'quit it, b!' and d cant believe s is giving him the time of day and n cant believe s isnt giving him the time of day and b is all 'quit looking at s, n!'. meanwhile, c is date raping the rest of the alphabet.

i like that people are so casual about cell phones now that they just throw them in the garbage as symbolic gestures

I love Serena and Dan, obviously, and Chuck and Blair for their sheer dastardliness - though what is up with some of the crazy Blair outfits? Ill-fitting blazers, weird Primark-esque white lace ugmo dresses?

re: Nancy Franklin: yeah, she's just a bad writer. it's not the slang itself so much as the way she deploys it. and that article is totally representative of all her articles i.e. totally devoid of insight!

Biggest surprise of the six seasons -- Liz Hurley was actually pretty great in this show. I mean, wooden as fuck, but somehow great nonetheless.

My favourite period of this show was the second season, when every episode it was Blair or Chuck doing the "I love you," "We can't do this now" conversation, and even thought they did it every bastard episode, it was somehow ALWAYS HEARTBREAKING.

i liked it, though the main boyfriend's guilty rich/wokeness thing is a bit heavy-handed and not sure about spoiling GG's identity so early on gives the premise a bit of an expiry date

I liked it too but criticisms that it's devoid of humor are OTM; the teachers are kind of funny but the kids are not, so there is a big Blair/Dorota shaped hole in the middle of the show.
