Totally normal.

Fun fact! My left boob and foot are bigger than my right, and my left eyebrow is bushier and my hair is thicker on the left side of my head (which is why I part my hair on the left). None of this is noticeable to third parties but it's totes true.

carl agatha, Sunday, 29 September 2013 23:01 (ten years ago) link

it is weird because i have no anxiety whatsoever about the fact that one of my feet is wider and shorter than the other, but when it comes to boobs, different story

i have had 3rd parties point out the boob size discrepancy

I've even seen bras for sale with two different cup sizes. Totally normal.

Random boob pain: My friend had this last year and the doc told her tumors usually aren't painful, pain usually means a benign cyst or something. They then proceeded to diagnose her with stage IV. May I suggest getting boob pain checked out?

Mandeee that thread was the greatest thing in the world to wake up to this morning. I wish I could like the bco ppl's posts more times.

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Sunday, 29 September 2013 23:42 (ten years ago) link

I esp liked "I'M FROM THE BRONX, YOU CUNTY RETARD. WE SOLVE OUR PROBLEMS WITH VIOLENCE THERE" which I'm paraphrasing but that was the gist of it. That was where I thought, this not very bright person is going down.

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Sunday, 29 September 2013 23:43 (ten years ago) link

Yeah that thread was quite hilare. I love people who get all YOU DONT KNOW ME and then have their friends wade in and defend em.

taxi tomato or bag tomato (Trayce), Sunday, 29 September 2013 23:49 (ten years ago) link

Those ppl reminded me of my drama llama ex who cultivated beefs so he'd always have something to feud about, and he'd always have a Greek chorus of punk/rock girls defending him and telling him how hot he was in sentences that couldn't be parsed.

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Sunday, 29 September 2013 23:50 (ten years ago) link

in orbit, ugh, that's scary, what happened next? Also, how long did it take her to go to the doctor, because I've only had this pain about 5 days and surely it takes longer for a tumour to develop than that? o_O

When I say 'sharp, sickening', there's a dull ache all around but this one spot I can barely make myself touch or I see stars, altho obv I made myself touch it to check for lumps (No lump). It's like stubbing a toe.

I enjoyed yr facts, carl agatha! My boobs are different sizes too, although it's not as pronounced since I put some more weight on. Mostly I'm quite symmetrical but I can only smile properly on one side of my mouth.

I am failing to follow the drama story. for some reason *I* couldn't parse *it* earlier and I still can't but it's 1am now and there seems little point trying.

ILX is sad (Zora), Monday, 30 September 2013 00:04 (ten years ago) link

She had chemo, surgery, and radiation and is back home and apparently clear but having tests every so often in case it comes back. Early days yet. Tbh I think it took her a while to get it checked out and then the doctors said it wasn't anything and it was too small to worry about...by the time she got it biopsied it had turned aggressive. We're talking over months here. Surely you have plenty of time to make an appt.

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Monday, 30 September 2013 00:06 (ten years ago) link

OK. It's good to know she's clear, I hope she stays clear. Such a monstrous thing. If I'm still ouchie in a week I'll make an appt.

ILX is sad (Zora), Monday, 30 September 2013 00:13 (ten years ago) link

zora, please go to the dr asap. not trying to frighten you, as i have no stories of such breast pain leading to anything serious, but when you say things like "I can barely make myself touch or I see stars" this worries me a lot, personally.

i will also add that my boobs are two distinctly different sizes, but the difference is less obvious the skinnier i am.

just1n3, Monday, 30 September 2013 01:16 (ten years ago) link

yes, please go now, Zora, from a pain management point of view, quite apart from wanting to catch it early if it's anything to worry about. You probably wouldn't wait a week to see if that kind of intense pain goes away if it was your leg or your arm...

ljubljana, Monday, 30 September 2013 02:02 (ten years ago) link

It's ok folks, it's definitely easing off. Goodness knows what it was.

apropos of nothing, I remarked to Clay that I had been randomly sweating at various points yesterday, and wonder if it was all the booze I drank on Sunday. He said I would have sweated it out Sunday night if so, and as he was starting to walk away he said 'Or maybe it's just change of life, you know'

I yelled so loud at him

I got the results of my food intolerance test today. Ugh, sigh. WHY. WHY. My dietician said she'd never seen anyone with as many intolerances as me :( :( :(

homosexual II, Friday, 4 October 2013 20:42 (ten years ago) link

Are food intolerance tests skin tests or some other sort of test? What is left that you can eat?

V. sorry to hear this, of course, but perhaps it is the start of a path to feeling better?

quincie, Friday, 4 October 2013 20:46 (ten years ago) link

No, its not a skin test. The skin scratch test is for immediate histamine reactions. This is a blood test (MRT/LEAP) that looks for delayed reactions that lead to an inflammatory response.

homosexual II, Friday, 4 October 2013 21:52 (ten years ago) link

Hey zo and just1ne, would you consider getting that breast pain/itching looked at anyway? Even if it went away?

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Friday, 4 October 2013 21:53 (ten years ago) link

^^^

ljubljana, Friday, 4 October 2013 23:37 (ten years ago) link

Lol no I'm happy telling other ppl to go to the dr but I only go if I can't actually function. I hate doctors and the medical profession in general, having had 3 or 4 too many bad experiences, and knowing too many ppl who've gone through the same.

just1n3, Saturday, 5 October 2013 00:52 (ten years ago) link

Like, I just had a breakdown that lasted a week before I agreed to go see a dr

just1n3, Saturday, 5 October 2013 00:53 (ten years ago) link

Im a bit like that for similar bad-experiences reasons. Male GPs can go to fuck. Ive had "you must be sexually active, your thyroid's swollen!'leered at me by a pensioner-age old feller, and "you're making that up for a work note arent you?" sneered at me by a young prick when I wrenched my knee falling off a stage.

taxi tomato or bag tomato (Trayce), Saturday, 5 October 2013 01:09 (ten years ago) link

I respect that you have to prioritize to manage your total wellness and the decisions involved are personal. I'm just feeling solicitous since I accidentally saw a fb infograph about pain and itching being warning signs for bc. Who even knows, it could be blown all out of reality.

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Saturday, 5 October 2013 01:15 (ten years ago) link

Probably everyone but me already knew that and your decisions to say "Fuck, no" are completely informed. I did not know before so that plus my friend's experience are on my mind rn.

Also the thing where my dad's prostate cancer could have been caught a year ago if he hadn't skipped his physical. (He appears to be fine post-surgery btw and everything.)

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Saturday, 5 October 2013 01:18 (ten years ago) link

Oh, good news! I'm really glad to hear that, io.

carl agatha, Saturday, 5 October 2013 01:24 (ten years ago) link

Hi, carl!!!!!! Thank you but for various non cancer related reasons his surgery was extra complicated so now he starts all the fun of 6 months' recovery! That'll be a blast for my mom I'm sure.

BUT TELL US ABOUT YOU. How are you feeling? Do you have a glow? Are you eating strange things yet? (Stranger than normal, anyway--don't think I've forgotten about scrapple.) Tell us childless withered husks all about it!!

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Saturday, 5 October 2013 01:30 (ten years ago) link

Six months! Yikes. My heart goes out to him. And your mom, and you.

Me... I'm in the third trimester now so tired a lot. I'm possibly glowing, actually yes. I'm really into milk. I've got a high risk thing going on that requires extra monitoring, so I go in every week for ultrasounds and non-stress tests, which can be stressful but it's nice to get regular reports on how awesome the baby is.

carl agatha, Saturday, 5 October 2013 01:43 (ten years ago) link

I was planning on posting more about that on the pregnancy commiseration thread when I know a little more about how things are going to go because I don't want it to be an outlet for me to just be randomly anxious about things, just an FYI for people who were interested.

carl agatha, Saturday, 5 October 2013 01:48 (ten years ago) link

Yes that's fine, I'll read all about it there too, I was just happy to see you and thought, I wonder what strange and/or wonderful things are happening in her life. And I'm tired and still have to photograph an apple betty, which means staging it on a nice tablecloth and everything. So obviously I'm procrastinating.

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Saturday, 5 October 2013 01:50 (ten years ago) link

FYI I am now craving apple betty.

carl agatha, Saturday, 5 October 2013 02:25 (ten years ago) link

With whipped cream.

carl agatha, Saturday, 5 October 2013 02:25 (ten years ago) link

And a glass of milk.

carl agatha, Saturday, 5 October 2013 02:25 (ten years ago) link

Well that's fair because I'm drinking tall, cold glasses of milk vicariously through you RIGHT THIS SECOND.

i got invited to a baby shower. i have never been to a baby shower. i went to a bridal shower once. what should i know about baby showers?

excited about the intentional phallus-y (sarahell), Saturday, 5 October 2013 02:31 (ten years ago) link

First of all ascertain whether it's okay if everyone but the pregnant lady drinks. Sometimes there's no drinking, in solidarity or something idk? and that's usually a bad sign.

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Saturday, 5 October 2013 02:32 (ten years ago) link

otm

sober baby showers can be v creepy

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 5 October 2013 02:36 (ten years ago) link

I haven't been to a baby shower possibly since high school though and that was thrown by church ladies for a teen mom so my experience may not be typical.

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Saturday, 5 October 2013 02:38 (ten years ago) link

I keep making posts that keep getting eaten so speaking if eating and baby showers:

I hate doctors too, but I am really glad I started looking for ones who listen to me. Now I have a really awesome dietician and nurse practitioner (both women) who are finally giving me the care I needed. But they don't take insurance, of course.

homosexual II, Saturday, 5 October 2013 03:38 (ten years ago) link

Okay here's an update: I have officially turned a corner into HUNGRY ALL THE TIME land. Holy shit. I got up at midnight to eat cheese, had a Popsicle at 4:30, and had Jeff make me toaster waffles when he got up to run at 6. Then I went back to sleep until now and I am starving again.

Run Francie... I don't know if I can control the hunger...

carl agatha, Saturday, 5 October 2013 14:27 (ten years ago) link

I think she's under the bed if you're looking.

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Saturday, 5 October 2013 17:30 (ten years ago) link

I got up and ate oatmeal and a banana and now we're out in search of brunch.

This is how vampires must feel.

carl agatha, Saturday, 5 October 2013 17:38 (ten years ago) link

Well, let us know if the pulsing vein in Jeff's neck starts to look tempting--until then enjoy the fried eggs and pancakes!
