CA - aw, thank you. She's doing surprisingly well considering. She even said yesterday (the day after the termination) was the first day she woke up and didn't feel horrible - that she felt likee a weight had been lifted somehow so I think that, even though in some ways this whole thing might not even have hit her yet, she's gonna be OK. I'm hoping hanging out and doing stuff next weekend will be helpful - we're already making plans.

I'm glad she's OK ENBB. Fingers crossed she gets over it quickly, and I know it's a lot to ask of the universe, but I hope she finds someone who's good for her and has a baby when the time's right.

On another subject, anybody here ever had mad random boob pain? I've got this sharp, sickening pain in my left tit, doesn't seem to be connected to the surrounding muscles or anything, and it's not sore-boob time of the month. Idk if I should be worrying about it. I mean, there's no lump or anything, no redness or swelling, it just hurts like hell.

ILX is sad (Zora), Saturday, 28 September 2013 23:40 (ten years ago) link

yes!!! and i was thinking about posting it in this thread a couple weeks ago!!

for me it's a burning/pinching/itching pain, right inside the boob tissue. usually only in one or the other, never at the same time. it's v uncomfortable, bc i want to scratch it, but it's too deep to get to, so i end up sort of squeezing/rubbing my boobs a lot.

sorry about your friend ENBB - it sucks that she felt like bc of her age she had to take this chance of having a baby. i have v strong feelings about this subject. i hope the decision is one she can be content with and move forward and find a better life for herself.

There was a crazy debate on my Facebook wall about street harassment between bcoers and my goth friends while I was sleeping last night. 92 comments.

homosexual II, Sunday, 29 September 2013 14:24 (ten years ago) link

what's a bcoer?

Untt (La Lechera), Sunday, 29 September 2013 14:27 (ten years ago) link

People who post on bco (boardcrewcial.org)

homosexual II, Sunday, 29 September 2013 14:29 (ten years ago) link

oh! i really did not know that or what it was. thx. i was wondering what was up with the massive fb comment thread. weird!

Untt (La Lechera), Sunday, 29 September 2013 14:30 (ten years ago) link

Which side was taking the pro harassment stance?

carl agatha, Sunday, 29 September 2013 14:52 (ten years ago) link

ENBB: Feel so bad for your friend, that was an unbelievably tough situation to be in. I do hope good things come her way.

Zora: Yes, had that before, just on one side. Drove me insane! It must be hormonal, had it happen a few times when I was pregnant.

*tera, Sunday, 29 September 2013 14:57 (ten years ago) link

afaict neither side was "pro" but there was the group saying "i'd beat that guy up" and the other group saying "that's not productive and you're perpetuating macho bs"
what i don't know is which side was which, but i didn't know what a bcoer was until a few min ago.

Untt (La Lechera), Sunday, 29 September 2013 15:02 (ten years ago) link

Ah, okay. That's good nobody was pulling the "How will I ever meet women if I can't compliment strangers" crap. I don't know who any of these people are but I feel better knowing nobody took that stance.

carl agatha, Sunday, 29 September 2013 15:23 (ten years ago) link

The goths were macho pro gun, bco was the logical realistic voice

homosexual II, Sunday, 29 September 2013 15:43 (ten years ago) link

basically my goth DJ friend was saying if he'd only been there, he would have protected me. Or something. Then the BCO contingent chimed in with "that kind of masculine aggressive behavior just continues the problem, it doesn't solve anything" only to have another goth friend chime in with "LOL you obviously don't know him he's SERIOUS" and then.. it just got ridic. And then his wife chimed in with "Let me know if you need me to tell you how to get a concealed weapon permit!"

homosexual II, Sunday, 29 September 2013 17:25 (ten years ago) link

so I guess in some people's minds I'd be safer carrying around a gun. Which seems absurd to me.

homosexual II, Sunday, 29 September 2013 17:27 (ten years ago) link

And then his wife chimed in with "Let me know if you need me to tell you how to get a concealed weapon permit!"

TBH that was the most absurd part of the whole thing to me.

Thx Just1n3 and *tera, I'll hang on a bit longer and hope it goes away. No reason for my hormones to be wobbling, unless it's super early menopause, but we shall see. Maybe some starflower oil or sth would be worth a shot.

ILX is sad (Zora), Sunday, 29 September 2013 20:57 (ten years ago) link

oh yeah man hating lesbians was classic too

Airwrecka Bliptrap Blapmantis (ENBB), Sunday, 29 September 2013 21:43 (ten years ago) link

I too have had random boob pain a few times and it went away again. Some of it was most likely from ill-fitting bras, as they also left marks on the outside, but at least once it seemed to be completely unexplained. I never know whether to take things like that to the GP.

Though I've just reread your post and I don't think any of mine would count as "sharp, sickening" (I think I know the sensation just1n3 describes though) - I hope all is well.

tbh I find the whole concept of Breast Health totally hypochondria-inducing and I've nearly stopped checking mine because that way I get to worry less but I am aware this may not be the cleverest approach

it is normal for one to be larger than the other, right?

not some dude poking a Line 6 pedal with his dick (sarahell), Sunday, 29 September 2013 22:59 (ten years ago) link

Totally normal.

carl agatha, Sunday, 29 September 2013 23:00 (ten years ago) link

Fun fact! My left boob and foot are bigger than my right, and my left eyebrow is bushier and my hair is thicker on the left side of my head (which is why I part my hair on the left). None of this is noticeable to third parties but it's totes true.

carl agatha, Sunday, 29 September 2013 23:01 (ten years ago) link

it is weird because i have no anxiety whatsoever about the fact that one of my feet is wider and shorter than the other, but when it comes to boobs, different story

not some dude poking a Line 6 pedal with his dick (sarahell), Sunday, 29 September 2013 23:02 (ten years ago) link

i have had 3rd parties point out the boob size discrepancy

not some dude poking a Line 6 pedal with his dick (sarahell), Sunday, 29 September 2013 23:06 (ten years ago) link

I've even seen bras for sale with two different cup sizes. Totally normal.

carl agatha, Sunday, 29 September 2013 23:26 (ten years ago) link

Random boob pain: My friend had this last year and the doc told her tumors usually aren't painful, pain usually means a benign cyst or something. They then proceeded to diagnose her with stage IV. May I suggest getting boob pain checked out?

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Sunday, 29 September 2013 23:41 (ten years ago) link

Mandeee that thread was the greatest thing in the world to wake up to this morning. I wish I could like the bco ppl's posts more times.

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Sunday, 29 September 2013 23:42 (ten years ago) link

I esp liked "I'M FROM THE BRONX, YOU CUNTY RETARD. WE SOLVE OUR PROBLEMS WITH VIOLENCE THERE" which I'm paraphrasing but that was the gist of it. That was where I thought, this not very bright person is going down.

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Sunday, 29 September 2013 23:43 (ten years ago) link

Yeah that thread was quite hilare. I love people who get all YOU DONT KNOW ME and then have their friends wade in and defend em.

taxi tomato or bag tomato (Trayce), Sunday, 29 September 2013 23:49 (ten years ago) link

Those ppl reminded me of my drama llama ex who cultivated beefs so he'd always have something to feud about, and he'd always have a Greek chorus of punk/rock girls defending him and telling him how hot he was in sentences that couldn't be parsed.

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Sunday, 29 September 2013 23:50 (ten years ago) link

in orbit, ugh, that's scary, what happened next? Also, how long did it take her to go to the doctor, because I've only had this pain about 5 days and surely it takes longer for a tumour to develop than that? o_O

When I say 'sharp, sickening', there's a dull ache all around but this one spot I can barely make myself touch or I see stars, altho obv I made myself touch it to check for lumps (No lump). It's like stubbing a toe.

I enjoyed yr facts, carl agatha! My boobs are different sizes too, although it's not as pronounced since I put some more weight on. Mostly I'm quite symmetrical but I can only smile properly on one side of my mouth.

I am failing to follow the drama story. for some reason *I* couldn't parse *it* earlier and I still can't but it's 1am now and there seems little point trying.

ILX is sad (Zora), Monday, 30 September 2013 00:04 (ten years ago) link

She had chemo, surgery, and radiation and is back home and apparently clear but having tests every so often in case it comes back. Early days yet. Tbh I think it took her a while to get it checked out and then the doctors said it wasn't anything and it was too small to worry about...by the time she got it biopsied it had turned aggressive. We're talking over months here. Surely you have plenty of time to make an appt.

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Monday, 30 September 2013 00:06 (ten years ago) link

OK. It's good to know she's clear, I hope she stays clear. Such a monstrous thing. If I'm still ouchie in a week I'll make an appt.

ILX is sad (Zora), Monday, 30 September 2013 00:13 (ten years ago) link

zora, please go to the dr asap. not trying to frighten you, as i have no stories of such breast pain leading to anything serious, but when you say things like "I can barely make myself touch or I see stars" this worries me a lot, personally.

i will also add that my boobs are two distinctly different sizes, but the difference is less obvious the skinnier i am.

just1n3, Monday, 30 September 2013 01:16 (ten years ago) link

yes, please go now, Zora, from a pain management point of view, quite apart from wanting to catch it early if it's anything to worry about. You probably wouldn't wait a week to see if that kind of intense pain goes away if it was your leg or your arm...

ljubljana, Monday, 30 September 2013 02:02 (ten years ago) link

It's ok folks, it's definitely easing off. Goodness knows what it was.

apropos of nothing, I remarked to Clay that I had been randomly sweating at various points yesterday, and wonder if it was all the booze I drank on Sunday. He said I would have sweated it out Sunday night if so, and as he was starting to walk away he said 'Or maybe it's just change of life, you know'

I yelled so loud at him

I got the results of my food intolerance test today. Ugh, sigh. WHY. WHY. My dietician said she'd never seen anyone with as many intolerances as me :( :( :(

homosexual II, Friday, 4 October 2013 20:42 (ten years ago) link

Are food intolerance tests skin tests or some other sort of test? What is left that you can eat?

V. sorry to hear this, of course, but perhaps it is the start of a path to feeling better?

quincie, Friday, 4 October 2013 20:46 (ten years ago) link

No, its not a skin test. The skin scratch test is for immediate histamine reactions. This is a blood test (MRT/LEAP) that looks for delayed reactions that lead to an inflammatory response.

homosexual II, Friday, 4 October 2013 21:52 (ten years ago) link

Hey zo and just1ne, would you consider getting that breast pain/itching looked at anyway? Even if it went away?

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Friday, 4 October 2013 21:53 (ten years ago) link

^^^

ljubljana, Friday, 4 October 2013 23:37 (ten years ago) link

Lol no I'm happy telling other ppl to go to the dr but I only go if I can't actually function. I hate doctors and the medical profession in general, having had 3 or 4 too many bad experiences, and knowing too many ppl who've gone through the same.

just1n3, Saturday, 5 October 2013 00:52 (ten years ago) link

Like, I just had a breakdown that lasted a week before I agreed to go see a dr

just1n3, Saturday, 5 October 2013 00:53 (ten years ago) link

Im a bit like that for similar bad-experiences reasons. Male GPs can go to fuck. Ive had "you must be sexually active, your thyroid's swollen!'leered at me by a pensioner-age old feller, and "you're making that up for a work note arent you?" sneered at me by a young prick when I wrenched my knee falling off a stage.

I respect that you have to prioritize to manage your total wellness and the decisions involved are personal. I'm just feeling solicitous since I accidentally saw a fb infograph about pain and itching being warning signs for bc. Who even knows, it could be blown all out of reality.

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Saturday, 5 October 2013 01:15 (ten years ago) link

Probably everyone but me already knew that and your decisions to say "Fuck, no" are completely informed. I did not know before so that plus my friend's experience are on my mind rn.
