which city for GTA 5?

do rockstar pay their actors well? can imagine it being like the music rights thing - heard somewhere they get a pittance, real payment is exposure to a global audience.

on another note, what's the difference between 'traditional gta' and 'assisted aiming'?

the stuff about aiming in that article above is bob on. so so frustrating, esp as the shooting range. aiming on a control pad is bleugh as it is but to not even match up to max payne 3, rdr or sc:bl is bad bad bad

thanks a ton to whoever above suggested making the mini-map as minimal and basic as possible - improved it no end. recommend it to anyone who still finds themselves playing through that little bitty corner of the screen

The "blips" mode would be a good middle-ground between the full mini-map and none at all, but for reasons known only to God and Rockstar, they've removed the health/armor/special bars from the bottom along with the map

Yeah that's a big drawback but you can always turn it on for the mission

60% complete. there is so much game in this game, what a game, game game game game game

driving trevor's motorcycle over the top of the train is going to be the death of me

do paramedics ever do anything but pronounce people dead at the scene and drive off? cops also just seem to have much dumber AI than in IV, all they ever do is ram people off the road and try to shoot them dead if they get out of the car - this is kind of annoying when someone has just called the cops on you for standing near them

liked how in IV you'd actually see people getting arrested and cuffed etc

just remembered to claim my complimentary pre-order blimp, definitely worth doing as an easy way to explore the leftover bits of the map with non-fiddly controls, gets its own bit of moody atmospheric score as well

fuck training a dog, but the golf and tennis are both pretty good, and there is something to enjoy in the jarring change of pace.

i was thinking, this is when you know they have succeeded with a sandbox, when you feel like you could fuck around forever and never get bored.

i can't wait for the insane deep analysis of how the 'markets' in these games work. if it's something besides being randomized.

but i'm assuming if these things are driven by gameplay events in some way then the psn and xbox universes are different

rockstar could do the community a solid and release some information on how player activity (buying / selling & in-game actions) affects the market with some information on trading volumes on eg HAL & PIS

Basically you should take something away from the Life Hacker mission and apply it to the other companies that are publically traded.

Also keep a keen ear to the radio and any dialog w/r/t those companies.

Yeah I think the radio / internet news place scattered clues at particular moments. Also apparently each stock broadly follows its own pattern of peaks and troughs which you can start to notice if you look at the graphs over time, therefore enabling you to buy in at the right point in the cycle

heads up - if you manage to make over two bil (2,147,483,647 to be exact) your money will roll over into a negative value

It seems a little silly that you're carrying around all three shotguns all the time, for example.

i know it's not in the spirit of mayhem of the game to be too nitpicky about how many thousand rounds of ammo you're carrying, but, y'know, immersion, man

that said the rampages are all A+

as long as i'm WHINING i always wish each weapon had its own particular traits or strengths, so when newer shit unlocks you still might have good reason to use the old stuff.

also the flashlight is an annoying attachment.

buying the properties can give you extra missions and stuff to do. It's also just a progressive accomplishment.

Its pretty funny how close some of all this skates to what you do in the Sims, much bemusement for me.
