most disturbing trevor switch for me. waking up in a bed, next to a man dressed in some pink outfit, sobbing.

Hahah bloody hell. Once in N's game Trevor woke up on the side of a mountain, wearing a dress and shoes and long socks, muttering about being buggered by aliens.

cozen, Friday, 27 September 2013 07:44 (ten years ago) link

so many more cars as you gradually progess in this game.

I can't afford any of the properties, I really need to work out how to use the stock stuff. I did get a tip from a random stranger, but the market he mentioned didn't even exist!

The Tinkle stock the airport guy mentions is only on the bawsaq, which only works when you're signed in to the social club

random accies memories (Sgt. Biscuits), Friday, 27 September 2013 09:39 (ten years ago) link

No internet on my Xbox means I'm getting shafted with the stock market atm because both of the assassination missions I've done as Franklin for Lester (where he tells you what to invest in to make big money immediately after the hit) are related to stocks on the Bawsaq market.

it's going to be really interesting to watch how bawsaq moves, and on what inputs.

everybody on ilx is always complaining abt reddit

just pumped 20mil into pisswasser

cozen, Friday, 27 September 2013 14:28 (ten years ago) link

not to get into WoW territory here, since idk anything about it, the whole concept of a fake economy is sort of fascinating. esp one that's subject to organized manipulation.

goole, Friday, 27 September 2013 14:30 (ten years ago) link

that first mission with michael/trevor/franklin together made me like this game again. super awesome especially for a series that is not exactly known for good mission design

adam, Friday, 27 September 2013 15:00 (ten years ago) link

while not without occasional misfires, improved mission design and integration into the flow of the game are the biggest reasons V is so good.

Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 27 September 2013 15:20 (ten years ago) link

The mission design is awesome. The only two missions I haven't immediately wanted to play a second time were the yoga one and the big rig+stolen cars one.

My personal favourite so far is Trevor chasing the burning plane on a bike

flamboyant goon tie included, Friday, 27 September 2013 15:31 (ten years ago) link

is there in-game internet? please say yes.

There is, but it's pretty underdeveloped

Pitchfork: And you actually appear in the game.
FL: I'm in the game!
Pitchfork: How did that happen?
FL: I was in the right place at the right time. They were wrapping up some scenes in the game, and I was in New York, and they found a part for me that's in the story. I play some gangsta-ass motherfucka from the hood [laughs], and there's a scene where I'm playing basketball. When I recorded my lines, they had this headset that they put on you to capture all your facial features and everything, so they got my face. It's super weird. That's another reason why I wanna beat the game, so I can see how I'm represented in polygons.'

lol, i love that he's in the game and hasn't seen himself yet! (from earlier in the article it seems that he's at the 40% mark)

going to be p.nice in GTA 6 on new hardware when diplo, skrillex, calvin harris, & zane lowe can all have a three hour radio station each

cozen, Friday, 27 September 2013 19:09 (ten years ago) link

I haven't played this yet, but the mission design is better? And yet the game is super easy? Those seem kind of contradictory.

Panaïs Pnin (The Yellow Kid), Friday, 27 September 2013 19:11 (ten years ago) link

I mean I guess they could just be really fun yet really easy

Panaïs Pnin (The Yellow Kid), Friday, 27 September 2013 19:12 (ten years ago) link

the mission design is better but the game is super easy

both statements of fact

cozen, Friday, 27 September 2013 19:13 (ten years ago) link

they're just a bit more inventive (though they do fit the standard 'go someplace - listen to some chat - go some other place - kill someone' formula) on the whole w/lots of checkpointing thrown in and there's not much model airplane-style annoying failing

To actually play the story missions using free-aim is to make GTA V ruinously difficult.

um waht no

cozen, Friday, 27 September 2013 19:46 (ten years ago) link

just no

cozen, Friday, 27 September 2013 19:47 (ten years ago) link

all good points. max payne was so smooth.

goole, Friday, 27 September 2013 19:49 (ten years ago) link

i shd try free aim! why not.

i got kinda good at the gun range challenges, tho it's an absurd bitch running through them 3x (if you care about the xp)

annoyingly some of them only seem possible to gold if you've modded up the weapon in q

goole, Friday, 27 September 2013 19:58 (ten years ago) link

ok fuck a yoga mission you guys

17mil up on HAL now yassss

cozen, Friday, 27 September 2013 21:02 (ten years ago) link

I thought i'd already bought HAL but seem to have messed up a save. Finally got the mission that introduced Michael earlier this evening. I'm becoming determined that this is the first game I see through to the end. Miles behind everyone else, though.

Pitchfork: What was your favorite video game before this one?

FL: Final Fantasy VII, but it's a little dated now....

re: lotus not finding himself in the game: i know several actors who have done voice work in GTA and have never seen themselves in game. It's a big game and rockstar doesn't even send you a copy of the game!

erect, sporadic, notorious, genitals (forksclovetofu), Friday, 27 September 2013 22:27 (ten years ago) link

"So what other voice over acting have you done?"

"I shouted 'CHEESY VAGINAS' in grand theft auto four"

prop forward turned celebrity chef (Ste), Saturday, 28 September 2013 01:22 (ten years ago) link

do rockstar pay their actors well? can imagine it being like the music rights thing - heard somewhere they get a pittance, real payment is exposure to a global audience.

on another note, what's the difference between 'traditional gta' and 'assisted aiming'?

NI, Saturday, 28 September 2013 02:45 (ten years ago) link

in traditional gta, gun shoot you!

sleepingbag, Saturday, 28 September 2013 02:52 (ten years ago) link

lol, also it took me what felt like ages to fully get what a small green P? meant, as opposed to a large blue D

kinda embarrassed here but i've still not fully worked it out. i just go off the colours, but yeah what does size and the letter itself relate to?

NI, Saturday, 28 September 2013 03:00 (ten years ago) link

the stuff about aiming in that article above is bob on. so so frustrating, esp as the shooting range. aiming on a control pad is bleugh as it is but to not even match up to max payne 3, rdr or sc:bl is bad bad bad

NI, Saturday, 28 September 2013 03:02 (ten years ago) link

thanks a ton to whoever above suggested making the mini-map as minimal and basic as possible - improved it no end. recommend it to anyone who still finds themselves playing through that little bitty corner of the screen
