Yeah N gets chased by the cops all the time! Tho he mostly shakes them off. But he does have a habit of gleefully driving over people every 10 seconds, so.

I just get killed rather than busted. Is there any weight to keeping the cash vs giving it back for the $50 reward when you catch a thief?
― Kiarostami bag (milo z), Thursday, 26 September 2013 01:36 (ten years ago) link
ya was gonna ask about that
― socki (s1ocki), Thursday, 26 September 2013 03:15 (ten years ago) link
I got through the torture bit. why did the game make me do that. all closing my eyes while I hope I'm pulling teeth out effectively. fuckin awful.
― Clay, Thursday, 26 September 2013 03:34 (ten years ago) link
i give the shit back every time and entirely unlike real life sometimes it comes back to you in that programmed-to-be-karmic sense
― I've Seen rRootage (Will M.), Thursday, 26 September 2013 04:08 (ten years ago) link
yeah that torture shit was fucking bullshit and the "explaining" "it" """"away"""" part was fucking a joke
― I've Seen rRootage (Will M.), Thursday, 26 September 2013 04:09 (ten years ago) link
The wiki entry suggests the creators at Rockstar put such a vile torture scene in to highlight the fact the US do this very sort of thing on people and look how disgusting it is!
The fact p muc evryone I know has had a visceral reaction of horror/disgust is encouraging, in that you cant rly argue "omg torture porn wont somebody think of the etc!" when everyone's barely even COPING with that scene. I am intrigued by the idea of education thru horrific emotional manipulation.
― taxi tomato or bag tomato (Trayce), Thursday, 26 September 2013 05:52 (ten years ago) link
I considered that for a minute, that maybe they had a goal of some kind that wasn't utterly repulsive, but seriously gimme some kind of opt out here
― Clay, Thursday, 26 September 2013 06:21 (ten years ago) link
The water in this game is so amazing, especially at sea, most realistic waves I've seen since Waverace 64. And the Jetskis feel perfect.
― JimD, Thursday, 26 September 2013 09:17 (ten years ago) link
this is me btw :)

A neat touch I've seen with the water is when it's near surface rocks and the water splashes upwards. Doesn't always look perfect but still cool.
Can't say I'm too keen on the radio channels so far, but I think I might have said the same thing about IV but gradually got to like it.
It's also too damn easy, the story missions, this annoys me. Getting gold in all the missions will be tough but reaching the end of the story should have been much more of a challenge imo.
― prop forward turned celebrity chef (Ste), Thursday, 26 September 2013 13:17 (ten years ago) link
it is really really easy
― Evil Juice Box Man (LocalGarda), Thursday, 26 September 2013 13:20 (ten years ago) link
i love easy games cos i am shit at games, but this is the easiest game i've ever played. i've hardly failed a mission except by misunderstanding what i was meant to do.
― Evil Juice Box Man (LocalGarda), Thursday, 26 September 2013 13:21 (ten years ago) link
i love easy games too - i'm more into the story than the challenge most of the time. I'm about 7% in though, and have already had to retry sections of the yacht-pursuit mission and several others because I am clumsy and awful.
― Holy Shirt! (stevie), Thursday, 26 September 2013 13:25 (ten years ago) link
woof
ending was heavy
when can we discuss spoilers?
― cozen, Thursday, 26 September 2013 13:33 (ten years ago) link
switched to trevor as he was arguing w/a tramp about 5$ being good value for a handjob
― cozen, Thursday, 26 September 2013 13:42 (ten years ago) link
most disturbing trevor switch for me. waking up in a bed, next to a man dressed in some pink outfit, sobbing.
― prop forward turned celebrity chef (Ste), Thursday, 26 September 2013 13:46 (ten years ago) link
let's not discuss spoilers!

OK cool no spoilers

When I play games this immersive and long and then find myself talking about it later, I tend to say things like "you have to do this" or "I had to chase down that", substituting personal pronouns for that of the protagonist. It's been weird when talking about this game, though, explaining to bf what's going on. I've noticed that I'm freely able to talk about "I" when describing the needs and actions of Franklin and Michael, but I hiccup and switch to third-person when describing the actions of Trevor. Weird?

So far the races in this game are way too easy.
― polyphonic, Thursday, 26 September 2013 16:54 (ten years ago) link
yeah i kind of wish it was a little harder across the board.
― goole, Thursday, 26 September 2013 18:49 (ten years ago) link
hoping this'll mean a flood of cheap used copies soon enough
― Euler, Thursday, 26 September 2013 18:52 (ten years ago) link
hunting is kind of fun but not exactly worth it, i don't think?
i am impressed by the sense of appropriate differences in scale for what things cost -- seeing the high price tags on those first few available properties seems pretty daunting, but then gives you a sense of what kind of money you could be making
― goole, Thursday, 26 September 2013 18:56 (ten years ago) link
anyone fux w/ the stock exchange yet?
is there an adjustable difficulty or no?
i think this is one of those games (like dark souls) where i'm happy to read this thread and watch the occasional youtube video instead of actually playing it.
― festival culture (Jordan), Thursday, 26 September 2013 18:59 (ten years ago) link
^^ this is the way I enjoy all video games these days. This looks awesome though.

Yes. There's an achievement for doubling your investment but so far I've only made marginal gains.
Definitely recommend not investing in LifeInvader after the CEO's speech! That shit bottoms out hard.
― polyphonic, Thursday, 26 September 2013 19:11 (ten years ago) link
one annoyance: being risk averse and not greedy, i picked the best hired crew people. after the heist i get told that crew members get better, but their cut doesn't increase. shit.
― goole, Thursday, 26 September 2013 19:16 (ten years ago) link
sorry, that's kind of spoilery. tip, tho
totally. the good news is that at the time that i invested in it, i only had about $10K total, and invested half of it in lifeinvader. shortly thereafter if i finished the first heist and had much, much more $. so no big deal.
later on there's a mission that has a very tangible effect on the stock market, and they let you know that before you finish so you can invest.
― Z S, Thursday, 26 September 2013 19:25 (ten years ago) link
xp wellll...i would say from experience, also not wanting to be too spoilery, but it doesn't always quite work out the way you are figuring.
― Roberto Spiralli, Thursday, 26 September 2013 19:26 (ten years ago) link
well i don't doubt that the cheaper hires perform materially worse but eh, maybe that would have been more fun anyway!

how do i start these maude missions? getting texts from her giving me grief over it but no sign of a marker. am i meant to work out the location from the little crummy picture she shows me?
― NI, Thursday, 26 September 2013 19:43 (ten years ago) link
Yeah, the picture is the clue. I looked up the first one online after puzzling over it for awhile. No idea where the second one is.

sack that, i'm not playing an glacial-speed murder mystery here. rockstar with more of their "lets plonk a really tedious dullhump into the middle of the fun" trickery. do you have a link - or even a decent clue - to where to find em?

people online have billions due to stockmarket o_O
think there's some ppl trying to game the BAWSAQ market too

pretty naked lift of some of the wilderness shit from red dead. instead of skinning you take a pic and send it to your bud, tho, ha
― goole, Thursday, 26 September 2013 20:53 (ten years ago) link
now I've finished this might sell it for basically full RRP and pick up red dead
will it still be playable post-GTAV
