Jon Benjamin plays a recurring minor character on FG on occasion.

The cast are all alt-comics based in NYC(I think)

Has the new season just started? Awesome.

This show has really grown in quality over time - love it. Making it more and more outlandish and spending less focus on just the restaurant was the right way to go. It's filling my Home Movies void just fine.

I wasn't in love with the first episode, but I may just need to recalibrate my system after a summer away.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 5 October 2013 17:49 (ten years ago) link

This most recent episode was amazing. Every single person in the cast brought their A-game and then some.

"Mort, what are you doing?"

"Adjusting myself while nobody notices."

"Teddy, what are you doing?"

"Watching Mort adjust himself."

I need a gif of that smile slowly disappearing from Millie's face while Louise yells at her.

They somehow made that girl truly frightening!

the Bronski Review (Trayce), Thursday, 12 December 2013 00:45 (ten years ago) link

Home ec episode was one of my favorites so far. Especially the compressed teacher-student struggle between Bob and Zeke. They do a really good job making this show seem ad libbed.

They record most of the v/o live with the whole cast in the booth so some of it might be, a little bit.

This is cool:

In addition to being the co-executive producer and showrunner, Loren also composed the show's opening theme. I interviewed Loren in his office, where his desk is surrounded by musical instruments. In this episode, he talks about which ones went into the theme, and the emotions he wanted to evoke with each of them.

Season 5 starts this Sunday.

One of the episode synopses for this season on the BB wiki simply says "Tina falls in love with a ghost." I'm already laughing at just the idea of this.

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 2 October 2014 02:41 (nine years ago) link

one of the weird indulgences of this show is that it posits that these children who were presumably born in the early 2000s are really into the pop-cultural touchstones of people who were teenagers in the 80s.

halfway through season 4, this show is unstoppable.

Tina is the cult hero and I understand why but Louise is my favorite character on television atm.

Van Horn Street, Sunday, 9 November 2014 03:55 (nine years ago) link

louise is my favorite too. the boy band episode is her finest moment imo.

"Tina's gonna be okay. I made her a PB&J and she said she didn't want it so I ate it. She was still sad so I made her another PB&J. She didn't want that one either so I ate it. Anyway, Tina wants to be alone for a little while and we're out of peanut butter."
