It is actually not alright to keep her "trade secrets" a secret if she is defining "trade secrets" as "ingredients."

Yeh, I was wondering!
H2, what led to your using this lady's product?

Now that we've roundly mocked the product and exposed this woman's illegal operation...

Well, it's working, apparently. Even if that means it's replaced H2's soul with a long-haired marketing demon.... Careful, y'all.

I know, isn't it mental? I was reading a PCOS message board and some of the PCOS-ers were talking about how awesome her shampoo is, and I just had to try it. I went for the skin cream kind of on a whim. GLAD I DID.
The most luxuriant wholistic mayo I've ever put on my face!

don't you want her to yell at you for dying your hair? sounds like a blast, right?
― homosexual II, Tuesday, 27 August 2013 19:25 (ten years ago) link
I do need a haircut (was thinking of getting one TODAY) but there is no price list (would've gone to reg stylist before she moved but need to cheap out) and I have to fill out an "about you" form before I can book an appointment! Xp
― she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Tuesday, 27 August 2013 19:27 (ten years ago) link
Hahaha no kidding. My hairstylist used ~organic~ dye so maybe I'll just be gently chastised. Or she will list out how the dye was not actually organic and aren't I glad she's here to tell me the truth??

Mostly innocuous if self involved but:
"Do people try to pressure you into cutting your hair shorter for them or any other reasons? Tell Longhairs all about it... If this is preceeding a naturopathy-only session, list about what average doctor want to try to put you on. instead. : *"

I like to think of my hair as long but I think I would get laughed out of there, also unsure where she wants me to indicate my hair's state vis-a-vis "yes/no"
"Do you presently have long hair (you get comments that tell you your hair's longer than most in society)? What do you think the state or length of your hair and skin is?: * Yes No No, just coming for better hair and scalp"

Just tried to Google and was displeased to find out that there is no website where I can input my height and weight and find out the approximate surface area of my skin. Once I learn how to program, I know what website I'm starting!

good news -- the regimen is working! my skin has completely cleared up and i don't think it has looked this good in years. yay. bad news - not really that bad of news, but the peeling has begun. there's a spot on each side under my bottom lip that requires constant supervision/lotioning
whole face still stings from time to time, but i think it's bc of heat/sweat/sun? overall, i feel better about my face skin than i did 2 months ago. i'll take it.
― no fomo (La Lechera), Tuesday, 3 September 2013 20:54 (ten years ago) link
dud: shiseido sunscreen: it goes on nicely bc its a thin runny lotion, doesn't seem to leave too white of a cast but... Jesus christ by the end of every day its in my goddamn eyes and its so painful! Its supposedly ophthalmologist approved, too! I mostly bought it for jordan, bc I'm trying to get him in the habit of wearing sunscreen every day, but its fucking up his already allergy-irritated eyes too (he head/face sweats way more than me).

bad news -- whole face peeling in a way that is unsightly if not slightly alarming if left alone for more than 1 waking hr.

i have a good suggestion for sunscreen for sensitive skin and people whose eyes it hurts (myself incl) -- elta md 46SPF, uses transparent zinc oxide instead of whatever that weird stingy chemical is and has been doing fine for me (not related to above molting).
― no fomo (La Lechera), Monday, 16 September 2013 13:47 (ten years ago) link
Thanks! Yeah I have been using the neutragena stuff which I like, but I really want to switch to a mineral sunscreen, so I'll track down this elta stuff

― no fomo (La Lechera), Monday, 16 September 2013 15:04 (ten years ago) link
Pro-tip on retinol-induced peeling: don't attempt additional exfoliation! The retinol is doing the exfoliating for you!
Retinol-induced peeling isn't a "drying" side-effect, it is THE MAIN EVENT of how a retinol works: it is telling skin cells to die off and replenish at a much faster rate than before. Dialing back on either the retinol concentration (I can't do more than .05% retin-A) or frequency of application (every other day instead of daily; I do ~ 3x per week at night) can keep the cell turnover going without excessive peeling/redness/irritation.
