mile end is so great with the streetlights out. so dramatic. it's a thing they should just do on these summer nights, for ambiance. I had such a nice evening walking to olimpico, the sky this deep violet, ambient social activity audible more than visible.

ps I would love to hang with Adam but can we just establish whether or not on this trip it is going to be a candle-lit lady-&-the-tramp spaghetti-sharing wedding anniversary scene, on which several ilxors are impinging, or whether there is an actual social window

montreal thread: I don't know if this is just a sad & transparent manifestation of the ebbing of summer, the greying skies, &c, but I want to swim in a river while the water is still habitable. can you do that here? have you done it? to take a train & swim near a bridge?

You have the beach at Cap Saint Jacques, it's a beautiful place. Heard about a beach in Île Bizard but never been there.

mtl doesn't have enough whatever that type of architecture is called imo

i remember going to vancouver & being wowed at a lot of individually ugly new apartment buildings looking really great clustered together with the backdrop of hills, i feel like having that kinda thing en masse is to some degree a prereq for it looking effective

Agreed, outside looking in Vancouver is somewhat nice. However, once you are inside those streets and the only thing around is ugly condo towers with deserted balconies, bleh.

This is not what Montreal is about, at all.

Plus, they have a hard time selling those type of real estate in Toronto, I wonder how it fares in Montreal where you have plenty of cool appartments and houses in great neighborhood for insanely low prices.

mondays is hard but ya there are lots of new places opening up all the time now! bethlehem xxx, impasto, the izakaya in sardine, uh... what else... you in town or planning on being here soon?

im there the first weekend in december friday to tuesday. i think thats the 6th-9th. meal plan currently looks like
