Which of today's artists will get into Rock and Roll HOF?

Radiohead is like the Talking Heads, "edgy" for the Hall of Fame, critically respected...they're in.

I said I was pissed off, not that Fripp or any other Crims should be. I've never been very far above the fray, as it were.

I think they deserve it. It would be nice to see them get the recognition they deserve. It pisses me off because of WHY I think they're not in -- Fripp's insistence on calling bullshit on the corruption of the music industry, esp. since his re-un-retirement in the early 90s, following the "period of Endless Grief" legal fight with E.G. Records. He refuses to accept standard industry practices, especially accounting practices, and is very patient, methodical and intractable dealing with major labels*. Anyway, my guess is that part of the industry's payback is "No HoF for YOU."

*This certainly makes him come across as a dick and a martyr. He's infuriating as only the truly principled can be.

Except for the fact that Seymour Stein is one of the men behind the HOF, and all of the Talking Heads LPs were on his label. Didn't Stein himself get inducted into the hall this year or last?

Yet the Pretenders are. Yeah, that makes sense.

And don't give me that "...but they didn't sell any records!" nonsense. The Velvet Underground didn't sell shit either and they're in.

I also think Radiohead, the Pixies, Metallica, Dave Matthews band, Guns N Roses, Green Day, Nine Inch Nails, Beck and Sonic Youth have a good shot.

Run DMC, LL Cool J, and Public Enemy will either make it in, or they'll start a hip hop hall of fame.

I don't see Teenage Fanclub,m the White Stripes, the Strokes or Coldplay making it.

Even though I am not at all into hip-hop, I hope they will also be able to include hip-hop (and electronica), as hip-hop and electronica are both clearly part of the bigger and broader history of rock'n'roll.

They've swiftly become my nephew's favorite band (.........and he's only eleven).

Anyway, REM, Metallica, Madonna, Run DMC and Public Enemy are the sure-thing locks from the 1980s. 1990s, you've got Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Radiohead. After that it gets a little fuzzy.
