Acclaimed Music Top 25 Albums from 1972 poll

Holy fuck, I always thought I was a 1976 partisan but this might actually be my favourite of these lists. Love all of these, with some all-time faves in there:

I'll probably vote for Yes but Stevie and Roxy are close.

This is the best year so far. "Exile" is my answer to this.

Would've voted Aretha or Miles, voting Stevie.

Roxy just barely over Big Star, but my recent love affair with krautrock may change that a year from now.

That first Roxy album still has a sort of otherworldliness to it.

OTM, this year is really hard to pick just one.

it's a compilation and overly familiar besides, but soundtrack to the harder they come is a monster. love curtis' superfly, too. good year for soundtracks.

Super annoyed at some of the albums that made it instead of Vol. 4 but Roxy (as well as Exile) is so good as to negate a lot of that egregiousness

My year! Amazing year for singles--posted a '72 poll last year: Feb. 5, 1972. From that list of albums, Something/Anything and Al Green loom large. But Exile of course.

Voted for the O'Jays because it needs a vote and for people who haven't heard it to give it a spin.

Clear Spot for me but that year list is full of greatness. Also, Something/Anything, Talking Book and Ziggy all contenders for that "Best Production Of All Time" thread. (BTW, hats off to Ted Templeman for producing three of those top 25.)

1972 really feels like the year "the 70s" began

I guess it's between "Exile", "Talking Book", and "St. Dominic's" for me. I think I'll probably vote "Talking Book", partly to compensate for not voting for "Fulfillingness" in the other poll, and partly because it's just a darned great album. "Exile" will get plenty of votes without me, and besides, I think it's maybe just a smidge overrated - I mean I'm not even sure if I've ever listened to the whole thing all the way through. "St. Dominic's" is definitely too low here.

Vol. 4 got totally robbed here. As did Eat a Peach. I have a hard time thinking of albums from any year, much less '72, better than those.

I'll vote Made in Japan.

killer year no matter what but i voted for 'ziggy stardust' pretty much without thinking twice, i've probably listened to that album more than any other.

with that picture it seems like Marlon Brando is saying. The Rolling Stones released Exile in 1972 but...

for me it the battle of Bowie, Young, Wonder, Reed, Mayfield or Drake.

I think Brando is protesting the exclusion of People...Hold On by Eddie Kendricks.

voted superfly, which i like as much as anything on this list (impossible to pick a true favorite), but isn't so often mentioned around here as some of the others.
