the key to having the swagger of Oasis is looking like you huffed too much gas at some point in your life.

Our music is easy to listen to, nothing complicated, just great, positive tunes, obviously influenced by core bands like the Beatles, Oasis, and the Stone Roses. But for me personally, we are all about the songs.

"Yea definitely, the industry’s a bit too squeaky clean, and has been for quite a bit now. Hopefully we can give it a kick up the arse. Especially with The Stones Rose(sic), and Noel Gallaghers new albums sort of taking off quite big, hopefully it will be a big surge and not just one band – a movement bringing guitar bands back. Hopefully we can be involved in that." Tom from The Modern Faces.

anthemic

swagger

On April 9th the band released their double A-side ‘Pravda Scrolls”/ ‘Cynical Brother’ through their own Dirty Love label, songs which have achieved the descriptions ‘anthem’ and ‘epic’ respectively.

Yea I think they represent us the best as a band, you know a bit attitude, definite ballsiness and that’s exactly what we are about.

thats funny bc everyone of these dudes looks crippled by self-doubt, maybe its the safety of the mob that gives them swagger

spent a lot of time yesterday googling "indie attitude"

this reminds me of an email to the channel 4 teletext music pages circa 2001 in which someone complained about LADS pouring a plastic cup of piss on them at an oasis show, the way their audience comprised an awkward mixture of LADS and provincial ~indie~ dorks with extensive collections of SFA albums

so i look at these and try to imagine whether they would be pouring the piss or having pissed poured on them, except that i suspect the dialectic resolved itself somehow

I'd be happy if these pouring piss on themselves.

I think the Verve could successfully win a lawsuit against these guys for ripping off their sound. Knowing their luck, they'd lose...

do you think in their heads people say that believing they have this really diverse taste or do you think they know they're ploughing the most sterile field in the world?

i am certain it's the former.

With influences as diverse as Kings Of Leon, The White Stripes, Black Keys, Modest Mouse, Rage Against The Machine, Muse, Pixies, and Interpol among many others they've forged a sound all their own but still familiar. Let's get those feet moving!

I'd be happy if these bands were pouring piss on themselves.

Oh we share a birthday. East Pennard isn't too far away either. I'm finding this almost interesting.

Funniest bit on the Kula page: Mills commented in 2016, "The musical styles on K are mainstream now. [In 1996] people didn't know how to understand it or where to place it, so all that was left to do was deride it."[22]

they do look more like they are going for a pouty 80's art student band aesthetic more than being the lads

The front guy looks like he's one of those poncy post-Bad Seeds Londons band from the 90s - whose fanbase didn't stretch much further than Camden High Street. The three guys at the back look like they're from a different band entirely. Anyway, they're American so I don't see how they qualify for this thread.
