like a day or two, i think?

I don't know what you delicate blossoms are complaining about, I smoke AND sleep in the AC, and apart from being so dehydrated that my eyelids stick to my eyeballs in the morning, I'm absolutely fine.

i have a headache, but i doubt it's from the a/c. it's more likely from the sweating all day everyday.

i guess i'd just rather listen to canned heat? (ian), Tuesday, 16 July 2013 23:53 (ten years ago) link

and not staying hydrated properly.

What do you mean, not staying hydrated. I watched you drink at least 36oz of beer last night, beer has water in it.

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Tuesday, 16 July 2013 23:56 (ten years ago) link

i was driving and walking around all day and had nothing to drink but coffee, it was sooooo not a good idea.

also, there are 16 ounces to the pint not 12.

laurel doesn't do 'pints'

mookieproof, Wednesday, 17 July 2013 00:01 (ten years ago) link

Oh, whoops. I knew pint glasses were 16oz, I just did the math wrong.

we turned on the a/c and I immediately got sick, like I do every year when it gets turned on

Probably all the mold that grew in there over the winter is getting blown out

i do

it is a rite of joy

Thanks for bill pay tips. Guess ill be phoning ppl tomorrow.

lololol

I don't, I left mine in the window from last summer. The freezing draft in January was a small price to pay to have my own personal Horn of Winter at my disposal as soon as I plugged it in.

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Wednesday, 17 July 2013 01:11 (ten years ago) link

get a fancy one with a reverse fan mode and you can use it as a smoking exhaust fan

mh, Wednesday, 17 July 2013 01:12 (ten years ago) link

Afaict air conditions when they are on "fan" don't bring in any outside air, they just recirculate what's already inside. I've always wanted the outside air option, because then I could also use my a/c as a $200 WINDOW FAN, instead of having to go buy another fan-type machine.

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Wednesday, 17 July 2013 01:13 (ten years ago) link

lol i recall having to break out/situate my a/c unit last year upon arriving home from yr fateful birthday party, in orbit

mookieproof, Wednesday, 17 July 2013 01:21 (ten years ago) link

that one I was installing when I first arrived was a lemon and I have upgraded to one with an external air option. The normal recirculate mode is cheaper to run right?

xxp oh lol yes that was the weirdest party ever, also the next day was legendary.

xp huh maybe I shouldn't have gotten the cheapest one PC Richards had 3 years ago.

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Wednesday, 17 July 2013 01:33 (ten years ago) link

They make a/c units with a fan, I think? Just not common.

since Tuomas went MIA, let's have a drinkup once the weather gets marginally normal in his absence.

if i am getting a man with a van, and there are two guys, and the bill is x, do i tip them each 0.2x, or do i tip 0.2x total and have them split it?

caek, Wednesday, 17 July 2013 17:30 (ten years ago) link

kinda depends on x I think

caek, Wednesday, 17 July 2013 17:33 (ten years ago) link

Meant to come to that thing a few Fridays ago, but had to work later than I thought and had a ticket to see Marisa Monte at the Beacon- it was the first time she's been here in seven years. And to think I thought this board had cured me of liking music.

has anyone ever taken the M60 bus from the UWS to LGA for an early (like 6am) flight? is it OK?

caek, Thursday, 18 July 2013 17:48 (ten years ago) link

i've never taken that bus, but at that hour (pre-rush hour) i think it should run pretty close to schedule -- busses in NYC, at least the ones I've taken in brooklyn, are pretty good about keeping to schedule.

i guess i'd just rather listen to canned heat? (ian), Thursday, 18 July 2013 18:46 (ten years ago) link

yeah the schedule seems pretty reliable here based on my upper manhattan experience

caek, Thursday, 18 July 2013 19:08 (ten years ago) link

iatee, Thursday, 18 July 2013 19:15 (ten years ago) link

generally as a rule of thumb the less frequently a bus runs the closer it comes to on time, but the more frequent buses run so frequently it almost doesnt matter

max, Thursday, 18 July 2013 19:25 (ten years ago) link

the only bus line i ever used was cut

yeah i have been here several times before, but this is the first time i've taken the bus, and i'm 100% sure it's because i have a smartphone now that suggests i take the bus.

caek, Thursday, 18 July 2013 20:01 (ten years ago) link

i do what it tells me

caek, Thursday, 18 July 2013 20:02 (ten years ago) link

if you memorize relevant bus lines its like a secret pass that can get you places faster sometimes

iatee, Thursday, 18 July 2013 20:03 (ten years ago) link

like if you see a bus on the street already there and know where it's going it might be better than waiting for the subway

iatee, Thursday, 18 July 2013 20:03 (ten years ago) link

will i know the one to get from my place to the dmv/target so i'm basically all set

I do this every morning. Saves me a few minutes, let's me potentially catch an earlier train. Most importantly perhaps is that the walk is really not enough of an exertion to count as cardiovascular exercise but it is enough to make me get a little heated from the exertion by the time I get on the platform and train.

otm. Hopstop has really good bus info now, I've been taking the bus a bunch more lately.

dmr, Thursday, 18 July 2013 20:35 (ten years ago) link

Have taken the M60 bus at other times and it runs well in my experience. They recognize that it is an airport conduit. Gotta allow some extra time for vagaries of surface travel regardless.

not that it really affects caek but the m60 in the news recently:
