I'll add #100, which is pretty well known by now: he hit his first professional home run at Hanlan's Point in Toronto, Sept. 5, 1914.

I once had a Waite Hoyt spoken word LP where he told this story about how the president (can't remember if it was Coolidge or Hoover) came to the park one day and they had a special thing on the field. Ruth was supposed to say some prepared remarks but when it came time, he forgot. Instead, he said something like, "Hey prez, sure is hot today isn't it?"

the usual rendering is "Hot as hell, ain't it, Prez?"

Ruth had so many great quotes--funny ones, and some that were very sentimental. Robert Creamer's biography highly recommended.
