Hey Spencer I used to have a pair of those! Jack Purcell badminton shoes, right? I bought them in 1992 and the guy I bought them from was all "dude you're lucky you're getting these because Converse is going to stop making them forever. You should probably get more than one pair." And I was like "REALLY??!!?! But I don't have any more money!" And he looked at me sadly.

new new loves:

they are the cutest thing in the world.

cis (cis), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 23:42 (nineteen years ago) link

Tracer: I didn't know they were for badminton!! I love them and in fact also have a pair of all-whites. They're easy to track down and Converse still makes them. My favorite thing about them is the little "KITT" eye slit in front! They're like slightly fancier All-Stars!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 23:44 (nineteen years ago) link

According to the men's style mag I just read at Gatwick, everyone and their babymama has customised those in time for the spring.
I'm not sure how "everyone" can have customised them as there are only 4000 pairs available worldwide. They are not regular superstars, they are the anniversary edition, coming with stencils, pens & different laces. Not sure what your point was anyway.

Cis, I have these ones..

Hello Pink, it was a casual remark. Are you really that desperate to DIY, incidentally?

tracer: thnx!

I got the adicolors for nothing, so that I could customise them. Besides, if not, it's just another pair of superstars.

I always do this, but I am checking their trainers!

have we made the twin peaks reference yet?

Dear Pink, please customise your shoes with condoms. Then wear them while sporting an eye patch, pirate hat and dungarees. TEH BOMB

ooh, mark, they're nice!

Probably a bit big for you, though :/ I love your cowboy boots! I've always kinda secretly wanted a pair...

Here's a pic, for those who couldn't be arsed to click the link (I'm selling them as they're just too small):

I have those terminators, in greener green and no yellow.

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 17:24 (eighteen years ago) link

PF flyers are the othopaedic shoe?

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 17:24 (eighteen years ago) link

PF flyers are very very comfy indeed, in the USA I got these:
http://www.zappos.com/images/164/7146164/827-100088-d.jpg

but with a burgundy trim, as well as a pair of old school nike airs in grey and blue with reflective recessed dots in the heel for a mere thirty dollars, couldn't really refuse them!

Porkpie (porkpie), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 19:44 (eighteen years ago) link

my cowboy boots are the most comfortable pair of shoes I own.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 19:55 (eighteen years ago) link

nice, I was going to get some nastases too while over as classic adidas are so ridiculously cheap over there right now what with the exchange rate, but my size was out.

Go on sites like footlocker or champs (or my favourite - dicks sporting goods) and there's loads of good adidas, most ship to the UK too and it seems to be dollars for pounds

a drunk homeless dude followed me around for about two minutes tonight pointing at my feet and screaming "YELLOWBOOTSYELLOWBOOTSMYNIGGAYELLOWBOOTSYELLOWBOOOOOOOOOOOTS"

mark p (Mark P), Thursday, 21 April 2005 02:26 (eighteen years ago) link

Mm shiny.

Here's a job for the bored: find me pics of either pale blue-green or cream shoes, since I still haven't found any for my wedding. I prefer round toes and a small heel. Ta!

They do them in a fresh green as well. No heel but very very comfortable...

More balllerinas, but is it the right shade of blue-green?

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 21 April 2005 07:35 (eighteen years ago) link

Thanks Liz! I have seen both of those in the flesh I think. Normally I love that style, but I've decided that my skirt's length makes my calves look fat unless I have at least a BIT of heel. But I don't want to be taller than Matt. Sigh.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 21 April 2005 07:36 (eighteen years ago) link

Have you thought about sexy but low foot-exposing sandals? The calf issue would be lessened, I'd have thought.

Example:

Could work! (I do have some surprisingly nice back-up flat shoes I got for £8 in Primark, if all else fails...)

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 21 April 2005 07:42 (eighteen years ago) link

If you don't mind foot exposure, how about these?

three weeks pass...
http://www.clarksusa.com/images/shoes/men/detail/1000251.jpg

This pair of Clarks is my first step away from old-man/comfort shoes in a long time. Mine look different than above -- the band down the side is a darker brown than the rest of the shoe.

Hurting (Hurting), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 04:54 (eighteen years ago) link

Those are very nice shoes indeed.

I still do not have wedding shoes. Matt has TWO pairs of wedding shoes. Grr.

Oh, and I saw this book on Saturday and thought of james and Pinkpanther:

whoah, they're great. i really like the brown suede actually. still guess that's a bit impractical for winter. my new sneakers are still hurting me, incidentally.

got these from a new and shockingly good trainer store which has opened in Dublin.

I wanted to escape the hegemony of white, uncomfortable adidas

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 17 October 2005 11:45 (eighteen years ago) link

has anyone seen a pair of those black adidas micropacer reissues? they are so so so hot, however they're also about four times what I'd pay for sneakers.

I got a pair of these recently and dig 'em. But they're made of mesh which is sort of a problem in my extremely cold climate.
