But line "Lose Yourself to Dance" is sort of a chorus, isn't it? Plus there's "come on come on come on come on..." and more lyrics ("everybody's dancing on the floor...")

oh sorry yeah i could've phrased it better. i mean songs that are structured like verse 1 / chorus / verse 1 / chorus.

dancehall will have second verses more often than not. rare to find a third that isnt the first true but then these are trax as much as they are songs

― clouds, Sunday, 7 July 2013 16:21 (ten years ago) link
oh, ha, totally, I was thinking in terms of chords/structure; it doesn't really have a chorus distinct from the verses, but yeah, different words in different verses.
xp
― Esperanto, why don't you come to your senses? (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Sunday, 7 July 2013 16:58 (ten years ago) link
"My Generation" does change keys on almost every verse though, it's in four different keys altogether - that's a very unusual musical feature.
― Lee626, Sunday, 7 July 2013 17:52 (ten years ago) link
Yeah, there's three key changes; first two verses and the bass solo are in the same key, next verse modulates up, verse after that modulates up again, epochal outro modulates up yet again.
Who even does that anymore, especially on a song like that?
― Esperanto, why don't you come to your senses? (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Sunday, 7 July 2013 18:28 (ten years ago) link
was gonna say "Shimmy Shimmy Ya" but I think the single version has a diff second verse after the backwards bridge?
― thot police (fadanuf4erybody), Sunday, 7 July 2013 20:01 (ten years ago) link
julie grant's amazing cover of arthur alexander's "everyday i have to cry" is another great example of modulating up every verse (but not an example, sadly, of one verse repeated multiple times).
