so i just got cable again for the first time in six years and yay seinfeld reruns and turner classics and sports sports sports but i've also kinda started catching reruns of this on the 80 or so channels you can catch reruns of this on and, um, it's a decent show. not amazing but as goods say kojak or whatever. mark harmon's good on it. however: i've seen five episodes so far and two of them dealt w/ human trafficking.

i watched almost all of however many seasons of this kind of bland show in a binge, somewhat joylessly but comfortably enough, until my parents, who i was staying with at the time, got a cease-and-desist letter from the show's parent company's lawyers, who grabbed my parents' ip address in a torrenting sweep. i know it doesn't matter but after that i was kind of irked and never bothered to catch up with any future episodes.

This isn't the news, the news that David McCallum has now definitely had a longer run than Harmon is the news.

Though to quote an exchange between two friends elsewhere:
"I thought Harmon was NCIS."
"I mean, he was out for a short bit while they let that pervert guy be the lead."
"You’ll have to be more specific."

i *have* seen several episodes of NCIS LA, and if the original is anything like it, harmon must have run up an incredible body count in 18 seasons

I occasionally watch the LA show on a basic cable channel called ION that runs nothing but police procedurals - Blue Bloods, Law & Order: SVU, Chicago PD, Hawaii 5-O, etc., etc. - and it's darkly hilarious to me that ION's slogan is "Positively Entertaining," because every one of those shows, Hawaii 5-O in particular, is an absolute slaughterhouse. I mean, Chicago PD should change its name to Government-Sanctioned Murder Squad and it's not an episode of NCIS: LA if at least three people don't wind up dead by the end.

Iirc, ION started out with a broader lineup of shows, including sitcoms like Alf and Perfect Strangers, but I may be confusing them with Cozi or something.

Self-XP Checking their wiki, I didn't realize ION started out as the late UHF staple PAX network, an off-shoot of HSN which ran a mix of Christian and family programming before sliding into Infomercial City before the ION rebranding.
