i have to admit i was kind of thrilled to find this stuff, such brazen, consummate, overwhelming kitsch. this is what i wanted chillwave to be before it all just turned into indie. i think there's a core of numbness pulling at vaporwave which separates it from more blissful&beautiful [or sinister&dark] ambient or the triumph of /far side virtual/. there are hints of a subaqueous logic that might tie it all together, but a lot of these guys seem like loop monomaniacs & it's not helping them

I think some of Vektroid's releases are completely unaltered muzak tunes, not sampled, not looped, just the original song. I don't have a problem with this though

d'eon's "LP" seems to fit in w/ the vwave aesthetic

18 Carat Affair is one of my favorites. I guess the Pure Gold album is like a best-of comp.

So I'm not sure if I even know what vaporwave is, but I feel like the new Mu-ziq album might be vaporwave-y?
