Not even sure this is a pun -- the monkey is not a "heavy pet"? I don't know why they're wired together. Baffling.

Presumably after having surgery (like getting a monkey wired to your neck) the doctors would recommend that you indulge in no heavy petting.

I was just thinking that "It's All Fun And Games Until Somebody Loses An Eye" would make a good one of these

^ first solo slbum by Alan Clarke of the Hollies. I have no idea what the title is suppose to mean, but it is truly fucking abysmal.

Ralph Vogon Williams (NickB), Wednesday, 10 July 2013 19:40 (ten years ago) link

Warren Zevon's "My Ride's Here" is the sort of poignant/sad exception to the rule of this stuff

"If you like the Byrds, try Depeche Mode" (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 10 July 2013 19:45 (ten years ago) link

what a ridiculous cover too. but awesome t-shirt

I googled just now to make sure "It's All Fun And Games Until Somebody Loses An Eye... Then It's Just Fun!" was not a Megadeth album title.

I have no idea what the title is suppose to mean...

Harold Allan Clarke (5 April 1942, Salford, Lancashire) is a retired British singer who was one of the founding members of The Hollies.

Nah, it'd be like, It's All Guns and Fame Til Someone Oozes A Lie!, and it'd be written out on a postcard with a flourish, like they could have written ''wish you were here!'' And the band are standing around, leaning on each other's shoulders chuckling at the camera. And it'd be really brown.

Horrible 90s Album Titles etc., would be a good thread...

Doctor Casino, Thursday, 11 July 2013 18:40 (ten years ago) link

What would define the 90s album-naming ethos -- one-word names that sound like chemical compounds?

i don't even have an internet (Hurting 2), Thursday, 11 July 2013 18:55 (ten years ago) link

Hmmm, tough to say...these things break apart by genre I think. Did the "we're just a fun, no-fuss party band!" thing even exist in the 90s? I guess maybe in the land of vaguely funky major label alterna-metal. Most big rock bands seemed to take on at least a little grungey bummerdom, in image if not in song. Maybe something like Sugar Ray's 14:59.

Doctor Casino, Thursday, 11 July 2013 19:06 (ten years ago) link

Oh come now, of course there was!

ahahaha yes, how could I forget FUSH YU MANG. Bloodhound Gang would be a good source here too methinks. But yes - new thread? Or do we need to wait a couple decades?

Doctor Casino, Thursday, 11 July 2013 19:27 (ten years ago) link

E.L.P.'s Brain Salad Surgery always struck me as a particularly awful name

...which is also a lyric from Dr. John's "Right Place, Wrong Time." Both released in 1973. I've always wondered about this.

There's a collaboration you don't see too often.

Proposed (horrible) album title:

Waiter, There's an Armadillo in my Gumbo!

somehow it escaped me until now that the title is written "Who's next" not "Who's Next" or "who's next"

I know right? I was wondering if an American would ever even say "'ot", but apparently the bloke from Leaf Hound was the singer on that album.

Maybe it's just me skimming through this thread too much, but now I want to read that as a gag title meant to evoke "Fucks in Dlight," whatever that would mean.

They also had an album called Lie Back & Enjoy It with pretty cool fold out artwork:

used to think this was one of the most sanctimonious titles ever, until I saw this cover:
http://www.progarchives.com/progressive_rock_discography_covers/2627/cover_57171912112009.jpg

so a 'to do' list, maybe? first: say hi to St Peter?
…but no, that's the less common cover - the other covers and inner vinyl labels carry the version with the apostrophe.
don't know about you plebes and your worldly concerns, but…

I don't know if it exists, but there should certainly be one called "Try This On For Size"

Clarke B., Sunday, 29 September 2013 19:42 (ten years ago) link

Or how about "Salad Daze" with an illustration of the band from behind sitting crosslegged staring up at like a giant glowing radish or some shit

"Second Place is the First Loser"

The Frames should have done a record called "Shot Down in Frames"

"New Clear Waste"
