thomas pynchon. reading the oeuvre in advance of the new book...amazing, amazing writer

Iago Galdston, Thursday, 27 June 2013 22:18 (ten years ago) link

The Genesis Castlevania is the best of the series imo. Fastest play, smoothest controls, and great graphic gimmicks that put Mode 7 to shame. Plus you travel around Europe! The music is way better than the SNES one as well, which is no small shakes.

Apparently the Contra is great too but i haven't tried it.

Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Thursday, 27 June 2013 22:20 (ten years ago) link

the sound chip for the genesis is the same as the yamaha dx-7 iirc, so it sounds better than most snes music — but the snes games had better composers working on them.

Dead Sea Apes, looking forward to the collaboration with Black Tempest. But Dead Sea Apes themselves are very interesting atmospheric instrumental band. Not sure how they view the idea of post-rock but some people might fit them in with it.
Grateful Dead May 1977 still pretty decent at the point and thankfully I haven't come across much Disco Dead so far. Really not into that aspect of them, they were a fantastic improvisatory rock group though.
learning more and more Autocad, though not sure how well I'm doing at the moment. Really hoping i get it together by September. Got a set of exams week after the one just about to start which I'm not looking forward to at all.

not into landlords who suddenly decide to change over bin collections when you've had the same set up for all the time you've been in a place through at least 4 landlords. & you have payment sorted which it won't be if anything goes wrong with this. Or needing to get it on paper that the payment is being sorted by the landlord so he doesn't just change his mind a little down the line.

And I've got 2 more eps of FLCL and then I'm starting Paranoia Agent :-D

My roommate and I, though, we like cook dinner for each other and watch movies and text each other throughout the day and get excited for each other when good things happen and hang out in our undies and talk about life. I'm worried we might kind of "like" each other :-/

You don't even have to match what the drummer is doing just jam with it so you keep the time and mind the changes and it sounds good.
